Spotted bunch (about half dozen) of this bug / pest in my DIY grow box:

46.png

Killed them all. One escaped and flew out to the back, managed to take this shot.

I am steady on the way to the harvest window, it's a matter of weeks now.

What this creature might be?
What would you suggest that I do?

I do not have other major issues.
No bugs whatsoever and certainly no spidermites. Just these.

Lil more info on these:

Very very tiny
Have wings
Can fly
Black

And regarding plants:

Nothing on leaves
No visible infestation issues

Thanks everyone!!

Ok so you have no damage to the plants, thats good, I would not worry too much. Can't really see the pic clearly but it looks predatory. The majority of damage gets done by bugs / larvae you can hardly see. These may have been attracted to your plants because there was something smaller you cannot see that it was feeding on. If this is the case, keep an eye out for any damage in the next day or so, you may (and i stress, may have) killed off an insect that was helping your plants rather than damaging them. Remember not all insects are "pests"

Oh crap! I am so stressed. Thanks for explaining.

Do you think I should order neem oil, diatomaceous earth or any other thing ASAP?

One of my plants is due in couple weeks or so.
And the other shouldn't be longer than a month from now.

I would really really love not to lose either to pests or those nasty other things you mentioned.

Firstly, don't stress, I don't think you're gonna have any major problems, just keep an eye out, but, I am an outdoor grower, living on an organic property so I let a natural bug balance protect my plants so I can't really offer any advice on bugs in an indoor grow, just giving you the idea that not all insects are "bad". You have a couple of weeks to go and you have no visible damage, so that is good. As I said I can't see what type of bug it is but I have found bug damage to plants usually happen earlier on in their lives. The more established plants and ones well into flowering, I'm more concerned with mould and have found that bugs are the least of the worry. The point of my posting is some people seem to think that ANY insect on or near their plants is a threat. I have a feeling you're gonna be fine...chill ...:Sharing One:

Thank you so much Vas Deferens for your words. It helps hella lot, granted!

Will keep in mind your advice, never thought of it the way you explained nor have I read about it but it makes absolute sense.

And your garden set up sounds epic, extremely natural just as intended I suppose.

Thanks again! Will keep everybody updated on this thread.

the most common bug is the fungus gnat, that's what I think those are, the pic is blurry so hard to tell. not a big deal. I don't know what country your in, but if you can order from ebay or amazon, get yourself so gnatrol.

it's organic and safe to use at any stage of growth I have had gnat's three time's in the last five year's pretty common:tiphat::peace:

I checked again after work this evening. Spotted some flying in my box :-((

Will see for the product you mentioned astronomy420a (love the name btw! lol)
I'm in the UK.

Do you think I shall buy diatomaceous earth? what about neem oil?

If I can't find what you suggest, would "pyrethrum" based stuff work you reckon?

cheers.

maybe some of them yellow sticky things for flies could be usefull hung up around the room.till you get some neem oil ?

don't use any pyrethrum, toxic using diatomaceous earth, they just start using the drain hole's for entry and exit. yellow stickie's would be next best choice, those will keep the population under control ,until you finish up , another thing is small bowl of apple vinegar in the tent, if you have a major infestation this will work until harvest, but if you don't eradicate them with gnatrol or other similar substance's, they will be back! :goodluck::Sharing One::Sharing One:

Astro's right.. Those are fungus gnats.. Don't sweat it.. If your in UK get some 'Gnat Off'.. It's widely available.. A few doses of that & your gnat problem will be gone.. It doesn't harm the plants at all it seems.. From my dealings with the stuff anyway..

Get some yellow sticky traps too..

The larvae are the ones that cause damage.. In the root zone.. The adults lay the eggs.. Gnat off sorts it though.. If you're only a few weeks off harvest You could maybe leave it & hope they don't take hold between now & harvest..
But I'd get yourself some anyways for the next run.. But feel free to use it ASAP also if you want.
