GoAuto and roark's fungi extravaganza "Work area" Hard hat's please!

How's it going bubble? No contams I hope?

Anyway, wouldn't it be a waste to throw the jars away, Roark? They can just be sterilized again, right?

A question if I may -

My first cake to colonize and fruit successfully produced about 45 fresh grams of shrooms after which I thought the flush was over. Now, however, I am seeing multiple new pins not unlike when it started pinning for the very first time.

What is this sorcery? Can the flush continue like this or might this already be what one could call the second flush (In which case WTF I thought there was supposed to be a distinct pause between flushes...)?

I'm afraid they are contaminated :(. There's some weird colors going on. kinda orange, some brown, and lots of light grey it almost seems the white mycelium is dieing out and the light grey is taking over. Bummer. Guess I need to start over again. Damnit. I'll bet it was the jars, my inoculation was perfectly sterile, but the jars were a month old and I don't have a way to re-sterilze (no PC yet), even though they were kept in the fridge. Guess I'll add more things to my "supply list" so I can make some LC and new jars.

I feel your pain brother! Definitely don't give up, though! I can confirm boiling is a valid method of sterilization here since all 3 jars I boil sterilized are fine. I do have something odd in one of the pressure cooked cakes though:

Still gonna see if I can fruit it, though.

Maybe try drinking glasses with foil & packing tape and cover the inoculation holes with micropore like I did? Knock em up as soon as they've cooled down, but keep them in the pot until then. That month of waiting must have allowed for bacteria to crawl through the holes.

Not always in my experience. I have had bags do that. And tubs too. I would say that's a nice an healthy sub you have going. I would call it....still in the first flush. In my opinion, the "second" flush wouldn't start until you have gone through the flush steps. I am no expert mushroom farmer.

I can't really make sense of the pic. Weird as that may be. But if I am making sense of it... looks like when there is too much moisture along the jar. Like it sat in water pressed up against the side of the jar. Nit bruising per say. But more like sediments from the flour, verm and or water. Atleast that's what I think my similar issue is.

Fridges are full of crazy shit. I won't story anything in them. The grey stuff...does it smell kind old lady florally? Kinda fuzzy looking? If so...I had that take out 8 6qt tubs of p.e. such a fucking bummer. I think mine came on due to too much heat in the incubator. I mean it may have been in there, duh, but the heat just made it go crazy! Threw out everything plus 3 big ass bags of albino p.e spawn.

Hang in there bro. It will happen.

I just find it weird because there were pins, they all either matured or aborted and for a day or two nothing but one tiny shroom taking its time (picked it just now). Then, out of the blue they're everywhere.

I've seen bacterial contam 'wet spots' that look something like this but then again, too much moisture and just pressing up against glass would make sense too. It still looks a bit too yellow-orange-y to be sediments of the substrate to me...

If it fruits then it's good I guess. It's still colonizing at least. Thankfully it's not as obvious as this abomination, though:
