Grow Mediums Give me your ideas and opinions!

Hey guys,
So I am in the midst of setting up my grow space and would like to get some input. Ive got a few questions none of which are really directly related to each other so im just gonna give you guys a list haha.

1. My grow space measures 2'x4'x8' (bedroom closet) and I am curious as to what to do about lighting. At this stage of the game would my standard 400w HPS in a ventilated shroud give an even enough light spread to cover my rectangular grow space to produce a healthy scrog?

2. Scrogged DWC... Seems like ive seen alot of people say that its a PITA to do a scrogged setup on DWC, has anyone gone this route with success? if not... looks like i found myself a challenge.

3. I have the following seeds:

- dinafem critical+ 2.0 auto
- grass o matic ak auto
- sweet seeds black cream auto
- grass o matic max gom auto
- sweet seeds green poison auto

howd I do with my selection? and for those with experience with any of these seeds, what seed should I use as my break-in grow?

I think a 400w would be fine Dan as thats what i use and off the top of ma head a 5" extraction fan minimum but if your even thinking about a 600w get a 6" extraction fan mate also if thinking this way you might be better getting a 600w dimmable ballast , but not sure how you want to grow yet though

Dont do DWC but what ive seen and heard its very awkward to do a scrogg mate but dont know

As Dex said mate 400hps will be sweet.. Im not sure on the DWC or the SCROG as ive not done either of them but with the height you have i would just go with the DWC if thats what your set on doing. all the strains you have are equally the same so take your pic on what you start first bro:thumbs:

Thanks for moving it... wasnt 100% where to put it.

Ok excellent, that was my main concern.... making sure id have enough light to reach the corners of the grow. Im going to be running a 4" ventilation duct through the ceiling of the grow space, with a huge fan and carbon filter. And then on the intake side, im going to install a couple filtered vents towards the bottom of the door. Im hoping this will be enough for maintaining decent air quality and ventilation.

As for the dwc scrog question.... what do you guys think about building an all-in-one rig, where the screen is mounted on legs and then attached to the top of the dwc bucket lid? this way, you could still do traditional res changes by simply lifting the plant, screen, and lid as one unit.

-I was thinking of using some 1/2" round aluminum tubing and welding a square frame together, then using more 1/2 tubing to make legs for the screen to stand on. then attaching the screen legs to the top of the bucket with some 3/8" rivets. for the actual screen, probably just going to use some hemp twine and tie the strings off every 2", with the total screen size being 20"x20" per 5 gallon dwc bucket. i figure id probably install a handle on each side of the screen aswell to aid in moving it around.

would a 20x20 screeen be sufficient for a single plant? i guess i could squeeze the dimensions to 22x22 but thatd make it pretty tight fitting in my grow space.

haha yeah, Ive been following his thread! I think his route with the water pump is a cool idea, I just dont like the fact that you cant inspect the roots or clean the res after a certain point in the grow. Being an amateur like myself, Id feel way more comfortable having access to the bottom half of my plant.

Thats the main issue with DWC & SCROG !... Maybe Vick will design something that works :group:
