im a terrible gardener thats kinda scared of getting bugs,love the idea of compostings and making/breaking down soils and stuff.dont like the way i have to go sneaky dumping my root balls,much rather make use of them.
good luck.

That is an interesting point.... Hey @Rev. Green Genes do you take any precautions to make sure and not bring bugs into your indoor grow?

I'm not super worried about it, but I have pesticides should they tag a ride. Eventually a bug or something will make it's way in. I wasn't super careful about it, but I did inspect everything I put in for obvious signs. I dug through with my hands before making the final potting mixes and there was nothing in there that I could see. Since it's been cooking for several months, I would have had signs of soil gnats or whatever by now. If it really worries you you can add azamax or mosquito dunks to the pots.

I also am leaving the pots in the cleaned up grow space for a few days before I plant in them, that should be enough time to see gnats if they are in there.

Awesome! I use mosquito bits now....truth be told, I've gotten gnats from every bag of soil I've bought from the grow store for at least the last year. I've learned to deal with the pretty well....never gotten any bugs other than that.

So guess what was crawling out of my soil this morning? :redcard::wall::dammit:

LOL. Jinxed..... :crying::pighug::pass:

Since I already put the barely germed seeds in I left them some room to come out. I sprayed everything with NEEM and Chrysanthemum derived pryrethrin. I poured a liter of the pyrethrin into some sand and stirred it in. The sand is now a death trap for the little fokkers. They can't crawl out unless it's a thin layer, and if they do they get the poison. If they make it past that, there are yellow sticky traps and diatomacous earth is going on top next trip out to the grow.
