after jaring the buds i dont really aquire any smell.kind of bla tasting in most cases---kicks like a mule but no good taste or no good killer smell.what could be my problems.

I've harvested a couple different autos now that were the same way. They had a good smell while growing but lost it during the cure. I've read about a few strains being that way so maybe its just something with autos. It don't bother me as long as it still has the kick.

I have experienced the same thing. After curing alot of the times I get great smell, but bland taste. The stone is always there, but I want that good taste. If someone knows why this is happening, I would also like to hear about it. :peace:

How long are you drying and curing I get a great smell from all of my autos but not until at least 3 weeks in the jar and a really nice slow slow dry the slower the better the smell and taste . Me personally I like at least 2 months in the jar that's when you really start to taste every flavor and the smell just lingeres

Yep, the cure is the secret. My outdoor photos, have been the same. It seems like around month 2 in the jar, there is a major increase in smell and taste. Prior to that, 1 week in the jar, little to no taste, and a marginal smell. After 1 month in the jar, the smell starts getting better, but the taste is still lagging a bit. From 2 months, in the jar, it gets a better taste, and a super dank smell. Around 6 months, in the jar, it reaches optimum taste, and smell.

I think that I may know the reason behind all of this.... It may b, because u might be curing ur flowers too fast. When u cure/dry ur flowers too fast it doesn't have time to break down the chlorophyll, and trace elements like magnese, calcium, iron, etc. So what u have in the end result is non palletable product that burns, smokes, tastes, smells, like poopy. This is because these impurities got left behind.

Better Luck Next Time.

My problem has only been with two particular strains. Everything else has a great smell and taste . I did everything the same as with the others so I think it was just in the genetics.

I have grown six or seven different autos and none of them had a sweet or fruity smell.I think that there are a few strains that have a true fruity smell or spicy smell like the pineapple kush and a few others. The person at my grow store showed me a bottle of gen organics flowerishes that comes in pineapple and a few other flavors that you add to your water the last two or three weeks and this makes the buds smell and taste fruity or spicey, anyway thats what she said so take it or leave it.While i'm here maybe it's just me but does the weed seem to get stronger as it cures?:smokebuds::D

make sure you're adding sulfur to your grow in sufficient amounts. Sulfur is where your terpene development really happens. Something like iron sulfate is really great, as it'll green up the plants nicely and add sulfur. You can add sulfur through molasses and epsom salts, too. Sulfur is one of the golden tickets.
