Hi guys,
First time full auto grow starting in a week.. will prob have a diary here..

So wanted to ask,

how do u guys germinate your auto seeds?

Which medium are you using

And what size pots

Im gonna grow 5 blackberries by fast buds - should be done in 65-70 days from seed.. and overall want to hear what ppl are doing rather than get a solid answer...

Thank you all, happy growing!

I put my seeds in a shot glass and that goes on top of a warming pad for approx. 24 hours. Then I drop the seeds into coco pellets, which goes on a ceramic plate with humidity dome (old Trader Joes plastic cookie tub, one hole at top of one wall, one hole opposite wall on bottom) over them. That goes on a bigger warming pad. Once they pop, it's into 3 gallon equivalent airpots filled with Coco Loco. Right now I am testing clay pellets on the top of my airpots. I used the paper towel method for germing years previous, and smart pots too.

Thank you wonders,

Im a home photo grower not a pro..
Never used heat mats.. but seed in water cup for 24h then into rockwool until sprout.. high success maybe 80-90%.. then i throw in 1gal then xfer to 5gal but id veg for 2 months... Im thinkin autos wont even fill roots for 5gal pots... What u thinkin?

And was thinkin bout changing medium from coco perlite to soil with peat and a 20% coco.. but have no exp with this kind of medium so a bit afraid.. thanks for any help

When in soil, 5 gallon Smart pots were my favorites. One of the airpots I'm using this run is a 5 gallon equivalent. Coco does very well in smaller pots.

You can do that mix and be fine. Though keep in mind that coco/peat is soiless and calls for hydro like measurements. Ph is lower than soil ph. Coco doesn't hold nutes like soil either. I like coco much better than soil. I like having the ability to feed my plants more.

Regarding heat during germ, you can always put the seeds on top of a satellite receiver/cable box to get some heat.

Thanks mateyy
4 years straight coco/perlite 50/50 so Ima stick with that..

Ill get 12L air pots
Pop 4-5 seeds
All in 100*100cm tent
Under 400 mh / 600 hps

And how bout humidity bro do they act the same like PP plants and liking the 70% range on veg?

A ton of thanks buddy

Hi ^_^
how do u guys germinate your auto seeds?

There's a few popular ways to germinate (like the shot glass method above). Here's an alternative method (i wrote for someone else recently ... but high effort post .. deserves another go! ^_^ )

You'll need

1 paper kitchen towel
1 ziplock bag
1 Cardboard Box (VHS sized or thinner ... remember those?!? lol)
1 Heatsource (like a Sky/Tivo box)
1 Seed

I'll explain this in the style of Buffallo Bill from Silence of the Lambs

u332fr8rwnv21.jpg

"She puts the seeds in the kitchen towel and folds in half and then folds the sides in."
"She lightly dampens the folded towel with water" (dont run it under the tap - flick water on it until moist - not soaked)
"She puts the damp towel in the zip lock bag and seals"
"She puts the zip lock bag in the box and closes"
"She puts the box on the heat source"

(wow ... this nutter is demanding!!)

"She waters the pot with soil in with a litre of water and then puts a clear plastic cup upside down in the middle"

2 days later

"She checks in the towel for seeds with little white tails" BINGO! (looks like we're gonna make it out alive!!)

"She pokes a hole in the top of the moist soil underneath the clear plastic cup about an inch to an inch and a half down" (depending on tail length ... longer tail ... deeper hole ... seed casing need to be below the top of the soil)

"She sprays the inside of the cup for water beads and puts it back over the middle "

2 ...3.....4 days later and she's UP ... and thinking of dropping her casing.

(Enough of buffallo bill ... he's had his fun!! )

When the seedling is up, you can give it a day or 2 in the cup for humidity ... but soon you'll need to get a movement fan lightly blowing it in the breeze ... this will make her strong for a good start!!! :D Take the cup off before the leaves reach the sides of the cup.

- You are now Set for Auto Success!

:d5:

Yes. The basic 50% - 70% veg, 40% - 60% flowering.

Since I began growin 13+ years ago, I've used most germ methods and always did pretty good....but my fav is seed straight to moistened biobizz lite mix...cover to create a bio dome and wait. Gets me in the upper 90% germ. Remember, the best thing to grow alongside weed is...patience.
At times I've germed in a solo cup of biobizz lit mix, then tranplant... but you run the risk of transplant shock..

Thanks automan ive never actually germed straight into soil... Ive been growing myself for 4 years and a dozen of grows in my resume lol not as much you.. im rly here to hear more opinions and to really set my mind bout autos...

Sadly im using coco and perlite mix so i dont think ur germ method suits me very well :(
