Grow Mediums Georgia's DWC.. sorta..

One thing that nees to be said.. Betty Boos is a special thing.. It has the ancinet genetics to it.. The big guy ( I hope it's a male) which in the last pics has the Betty Boo canister in the pic has already built itself to 9 leaf structure. To me that is significant and important. Why? From experience it indicates purity of indica as evidenced by the width of teh leaves as well. I'm excited by the strength of teh indica in this variety. It has already proven itself relatively hardy vs inconsistent pH conditions. My house from these four Betty Boo and the two kush already stinks when I walk in the door. That's just cruel. Time to start filtration plans.. I just wanna be lazy =)

Nute change

The water's been getting cloudy lately. I've kept all four alive (barely) replenishing the same solution since the beginning, but just did a change..

Here's some numbers for the past 3 days.

ph/ec/ppm

5.55/1366/683
3 days..
5.37/1315/660
added 3 litres of
6.9/1740/870

a little fractional math, indicated that the solution would come up to a good place with this mix.. so I didn't bother pHing it..

this morning.. (2.5 days later)
I drained approx 17 litres from the reservoir and was able to replace it with 21 litres..
I estimate the total system to be running in the 20 litre mark..

replaced solution..
mixed at
24L tap water ph 6.78/300ec/150ppm dechlorinated
added 24mL Rhizotonic, approximately 80 drops of sulphuric pH down which brought me to my desired pH 5.5
settled and mixed
72mL of both A and B Aqua Flores
my final readings before adding to the system were..
5.5/1690/850 @ 21.4 degrees..

here's some pictures..
of the plants..

you can kinda see the not-doin-so-good plants on the left side..
these ones here are sexed now..
the back one female and the front one male..
I'm pleased, so I will have a decent amount of pollen for my projects, and this plant has proven itself to me.. now I will just be keeping it alive..
If it starts to suffer, I'm going to end the 4 plant project (never looking at the roots or accessing teh reservoirs and tanks) and save it..
Okay, but now things are looking good..

okay it's been a while.. so straight to some pics..

the front plant is a bigass male.. he's doin great..
it would be pretty easy to see that guy 24 inches wide, and I'd say 12-14 inches tall..
keep in mind it's the Joint Doctor's Betty Boo
AND I've had some pH issues along the way.. though that seems to be solved for now..

got a question.. not much experience with males.. should I expect that the male flowers develop at a slower visible rate? As in more veg and less flower?
I ask because the pollen pods are developing what seems to me to be very slowly..
I still have 20 days left to hit 60, but they aren't really developing very quickly and I'd expected them to be complete maybe like in the next week at the latest....

thanks for the #s bro. it's nice to see that. esp. if someone really wants to dial this strain in themselves and can reference your whole grow later or you can go back and recount yourself. It's handy and much appreciated

My male boo was about 14 inches tall also. Male herb is supposed to get taller then females but I didn't think it would get that tall. The flowers developed fast (day 35 if I remember correctly) but the didn't pop till around day 50. by day 60 I could tell it was ending its life cycle. Hope this helps bro.

found first popped male flower today..

it was on a lower branch and i found it after these photos..

the two female bud sites are on the same plant and the male has eight flowering locations like this.. after extensive trimming..

I've kinda decided to wait until I have a good flower explosion to "harvest" the pollen, just to get a maximum yield.. I will be sacrificing the females in this batch, but will at least be getting a mass of seeds for the future.
A little short of three weeks until harvest.

I found that the bubblers have pushed my pH to 7.04, and with the buffer from the nutes it was hard to get it back down.. I've had to lower my ppms from around 1500 (which the plants were enjoying) down into the 11oo range, which brough my ec down to around 2100. I know those numbers seem high, but it's a partially inflated number due to running out of sulphuric acid and switching to acetic.. The ec didn't respond downwards very well nor the ppms..

Bud zoom.. day 42 ... Betty Boo

there is nothing delicate about these buds..
This bud is literally pressed up against a 6500k fluorescent tube..
AND LOVING IT!!!

I bred two Diesel Ryder's under cfl's and ended up with about 100 usable seeds. Looking good.

Peace.

And the plants just keep on stretching.. This growing space is barely big enough for one of these dwarfs. They can get big... And have a LOT of bud sites.. there is one in the back that is totally a bush. a 12 inch overgrown bush. Once I chop the male, it will be possible to see the others more clearly.
