Hi all, first-time grower here and I have started my grow 3 autos plants in coco coir. 2 plants are in 2nd weed of grow and I using Lucas formula with GH nutes for them and 1 plant tomorrow will be 1st week but I have already feed a small amount of GH nutes 2 times, my question i want to do a bit different and for this 1 plant i want to use canna coco ab and rest full line nutes as recommends on the web, can i start using canna product on this plant if it's already been feed few times with GH nutes ? just to swap full canna line and see how what is different in growing both. I have already both all canna nutritions. And should get it to deliver in 2 days,

thanks all

@donn :welcome:Welcome to AFN:welcome:Looks like you might be getting started on the wrong foot! Coco is a form of hydroponics and in hydroponics you feed from day 1. You then fertigate (water with nutrients) with every watering to about 15% run-off every day. Canna Coco is an excellent brand line. They have all of the information you need to learn about growing in coco on their website. Take the time to read their whole library. Your plants will love you for it

Yes switch to the Canna products ASAP.

:goodluck:

thank you, so I have done a mistake by not feeding on the first day then? i have around 5 days then behind ... :( should just rid off them and start from the beginning with new growth or just move on with nutrition etc ? so I have to feed them every day and with 15% run-off every day ? i have bit slow on 1 plant and the leaves are a bit lime green so that mean i need more nutrients? thank you

If the plants looks relatively fine then I can't see why you shouldn't just continue with them, after just a few days of feeding and proper watering they will probably look perfect.

I (and I know others on AFN do the same) generally just pre-charge my coco/perlite with about 20-25% strength nutes and relax from there. Since I'm usually planting in the final pot (generally about 4-5 gallons), I often don't water/feed (simply no need to) seedings/young plants for a week or 2 (let the plant make more roots, go deep vs. repeated feedings that keep the medium/soil saturated). Consider just doing a ≥15% drain-to-waste feeding at 20-25% strength (of your actual target, not the upper end of what the manufacturer recommends) to saturate the medium and then feed/water when needed (for me, usually every other day by mid-late veg phase) while ramping-up the nute content appropriately with each feeding.

I am a lazy grower, not the best role model. I just have never bought into the need to do daily feedings in coco, particularly with seedlings and young plants and if using a good-sized pot, such as ≥3 gallons. [Seemingly back when I joined AFN over 5 years ago, the general consensus was that allowing some wet-dry cycling with coco was best vs. daily drain-to-waste saturation; but now things have swung in the other direction, or at least among some prominent AFN thought leaders on the topic].
