Alright, vacation is over and it's time to get the growage back up and running. This year starts with a few upgrades..

In the Gorilla 4x4 we are replacing the autocobs for an HLG 600 Rspec, not because the autocobs aren't a decent light but I'm going to use them elsewhere. The deal I got on the 600 Rspec was too good to pass up, and I am very impressed with the 100 Rspec's in the 3x3 tent.

I also am tired of bending my old ass over or kneel to hand water. Today I picked up a 4x 3.9g autopot system. Also for the 4x4 under the 600Rspec.

Uncertain what I'm going to run in the 4x4, I'll have to think about it a bit. But I'm leaning towards something in femanized form. The 3x3 will be Lucky Dog's Double Krush which I had a bud s1 for me.

Outdoors will be a few autos.

What medium are those of you with autopots running successfully? Iv yet to find time to dig into researching that aspect of this system. I think I'm planning to order up more Megacrop but in 2 part this time around.

Hope all are well..

Great setup you have acquired. Watching!

Most seem to be using coco, but soil or peat mediums work well too.

I'm on a mission to pull a pound+ per run.. i'v never done so. Typically 3/4lb is my average.

I opened up the box yesterday, i now see where its mentioned a few inches of gravel/hydroton or the like at bottom of the container.. wish i had realized that while at the Hydro shop yesterday. I'll order some for delivery. I do have a bale of coco that's been sitting around since my hempy days.

Last two medium purchases using Roots Organic Original i ended up with thrips with each run, Dr Zymes and ladybugs took care of the issue.. till i filled new pots. I asked the hydro shop dude about it, and he said it was known from the last few stocking of said soil... and they did not have it in stock. I ended up with a new medium called Organic Mechanics, giving the premium container blend a shot. He also suggested adding insect frass for helping with gnats and the like.. saying it tears them up similar to dolomite? Said an added benefit is it acts as a bit of nutes too.

I plan to run Mega Crop again, but i'll order the two part this time around. Mixing a day or two prior to handfeeding or dumping into the reservoir.

Hoping i reach my goal..

NO! Do NOT put anything in the bottom! They are very wrong about that. Using "drainage" material is contrary to the laws of hydraulics which states that the interface between dissimilar materials will resist the flow of water until overcome by gravity. in a system designed to wick water AGAINST gravity it impedes the flow even more. I used auto pots for years with none in mine and one benefit is the medium stays mosit pretty much to the top vs the top 2-3" of medium drys out when you use drainage material.

I've used coco, soil, and various blends. I found soil with 25-30% coco to be the best. It holds water and air well, and is less PH fussy the plain coco.

Advice taken.. and appreciated!

Believe iv decided on a strain for the first autopot run. Garlic Sherbert from In house genetics..

Now, in the 3x3 tent under my original HLG 100 Rspec's I just dropped 4x Lucky Dog Double Krush beans that I had a buddy s1 for us. I gave him a half pack and they were all female.. so I guess that makes my half pack all males.;) less than 24 hours soaking and all sprouted tails... just dropped them into their containers.

I'm hooked on Lucky Dog gear, and I was honored to meet the one and only SkunkVA when I visited his place in Bozeman Montana about a month back. If you get the chance stop in and see the gang.. and pick up some real deal "ChemDog" from the man who held the cut since 95.. and is breeding with it. Great people and I was honored he came out from the growroom to chat with me for awhile.
