Grow Mediums Fox Farms Ocean Forest

Was going to make a thread to ask this question but since I’m using FFOF this is perfect. First timer here and I’ve got 8 plants in 3 gal smart pots all with 100% FFOF. My question is, how can I loosen the soil at this point? Plants are of varying ages between 7-22 days or so. A group of 5 started together another of 3.

I spray down the soil before watering and I water slow. Some times I use this 3-way and poke into the soil bout 2-3 inches from the edge down and then down and in towards the center. Recently gotten the rh average up from 40% to over 50% but the top still dries out a lot and I dk how evenly the waters being dispersed. Average temp is about 75 F and I’m running a mars hydro Cree 256 19-21” from top of plants.

Any ideas?
I’m about to go post so pics from today in my thread if that would help.

ffof wont have enough in it to get through flower without some amending. Build-a-flower top dress from build a soil is good...you can top dress or make a tea out of it with a bucket of water, paint strainer, air pump, and some organic molasses... mammoth p and recharge microbe inoculates are also an option as is build a soils craft blend..

nothing you can do to loosen the soil at this point...it will be fine, shoot for even moisture...get used to the weight of the pots so u know when theyre getting dry and dont let them get too dry..
simple enough? lol

After a couple of read throughs yeah, I think I’m following. I have started to feed Botanicare CalMag and GH Flora series. 1/2 on all and 1/4 on the flower. I’m either starting with distilled water or letting tap sit open for a few days then dropping the ph. Though about collecting rain water. I wouldn’t need to do anything except maybe let it get to room temperature? Idk

I don’t know if I’d go the tea route this grow but I do like the idea of that, possibly for my next. Plus I’m curious to discover how the molasses plays a part lol

mammot. h p is pricey but$79.99 ain’t bad for what would last me a few grows. Should I get some build a dress from top dress to top off my last two pots or use what I have been, FFOR, but from a pot where the seed never popped? Or from the bag I have left? All three lol?

@AutoWonders what nutes/amendments do you use with coco loco?
I have three. Canna coco A&B, Sensi coco A&B and Fox Farms Soluble trio. Eventually I just want one set of nutes. I also use Canna Rhiz and Boost and Advanced nutes Bud Ignitor and Big Bud.

u can get small bottle mammoth p for 40...only use a few drops per gallon, it helps release phosphorus, the recharge is similar.. just microbes in suspension. where recharge is a powder/granular...not necessarily needed, but good help if teas seem difficult
using organic soil with bottled hydroponic chemicals isnt my thing..been there done that... you can use build-a-flower top dress, craft blend, molasses, ro water, and an organic calmag supplement and have a pretty fool proof grow with ocean forest and basically water only, just need to lighten it with a peat based light mix and adding some build-a-flower into it when amending the soil helps to since its got premium fish compost in it...and..just need to top dress every so often and keep the soil alive, then no need to ph..

It was some strange circumstances that led to my current situation and I didn’t have much say in what was purchased. But regardless I will definitely be implementing some of this stuff in my next grow if not sooner. Thanks.

@Faceoff_one add a surfactant to your fertigation. It will help the water penetrate the soil more evenly. I like and use Yucca Powder. You can use a drop or two of liquid soap (not detergent) or a commercial wetting agent.

I have noticed when i use fox farm ocean forest I've had drainage issues in pots. because of price i don't use it to often but i usually mix it with other soils.

I actually like all three. However, the great part of Sensi (Advanced Nutes) is it's perfect ph. Not worrying about ph is certainly alluring.
I had the micro, grow, bloom given to me at christmas and other than price it was awesome stuff. i check ph before and after and every time its perfect when done.

How are you mixing it if you add extra stuff?? there is and order from advanced nut to mix all 3 ; 1. micro, 2,. grow, 3, bloom.
but want do you do when you add other stuff? I was always taught to mix your high nitrogens first but then i worry about the ph control aspect. I decided to go 1. grow, all the other crap i like highest nitrogen first then down the list, 2. grow, 3. bloom. But i just guessed on that order myself but ph seems to test alright.
