Hello AFN Community,

I recently discovered your forum, and I think I could really use some guidance.

First of all, apologies if I make any mistakes—this is my first post here.

I’ve had a few successful soil grows, but I decided to switch to hydroponics for this grow. My current setup includes a drip irrigation system and a Rockwool-based substrate. Watering every 4 hours.

However, something seems off with my plants. I have two Lemon Cherry Cookies (on the left) and two Gorilla Zkittlez (on the right), both from Fastbuds. We’re currently at day 20.

Here’s my setup:
  • Nutrients:Terra Aquatica Dry Part with RO water
    • CalMag: 1 ml/L
    • Dry Part Grow: 0.8 mg/L
  • pH: Adjusted to ~5.8
  • EC: 1mS
  • PPM: 500
  • Water Temp: Consistently below 20°C
  • Day Temp: 23-26°C
  • Relative Humidity (RH): 50-60%
  • PPFD: ~580 at the Top of the Plant.

There’s no clear sign of nutrient burn or deficiencies, but they seem to be growing much slower than I expected. My soil-grown plants were growing faster at this stage.

Any ideas on what could be causing the slow growth, or am I just being overly cautious? Thanks in advance for your help!

Hello and welcome to AFN :pass: :welcome:

I don't have any experience with those nutes and can't seem to find them. I do know the Canna Terra liquid ferts are designed to be used with precharged soil. So I am wondering if your using nutrients for soil and they don't have everything in them thats needed to grow in rock wool which is inert. Never mind I was looking at the wrong stuff I found the stuff your using:baked::oops1:

Did you presoak and the rockwool with nutrients? and also you can go little lower with the ph down to 5.6 for rock wool

No i did not presoak anything. The manufacture said its "ph-neutral" and ready to use.
Does this little PH difference matter? I don't like to chase ph and my PPM are already a bit high i think-

Oh ok I grow in coco just watch a few guys that grow in rockwool. Not sure how much difference just have heard guys using more hydro setups PHing slightly lower 5.8 is probably fine what’s your ppm/ec?

I find that monitoring the output for a couple feeds can sometimes help to see the plants uptake levels.

Thank you very much for the input. Seems like im gonna up give them more nutrients.
The feeding chart from T.A. suggests a EC of 1,3-1,8mS in Veg so i thought i cut that by at least 70% because its a auto grow

I checked the runoff now and it was way to high. EC of 2,3mS .I don't really know how to interpret this now. Higher runoff means unused nutrients right? So should i still up the nutrients?
I dialed in the watering so that i only have to collect runoff every 2 days so the water was there a while maybe that had an influence
