New member, first post, first grow. I have ordered a 300W GalaxyHydro LED light and will be getting it tomorrow. The distance chart on the site shows that the light is to be kept much further from the plants at all stages than I have heard just about everywhere else. The numbers I have been reading about state to keep the light typically 18" to 24" above the plants. Any opinions on the height I should start at? I will be growing one 2Fast 2Vast auto and one Critical47 auto inside and in soil. Thanks.

I'd start at 30" and work my way down to 18-24 depending on light spread and canopy size ... I'd be down to 24" in about 2 weeks .... good luck w/ your grow ...

Yes I use a Mars 300 and it stays around 18" the whole time, I've toasted the tops at less than 12, but in the other hand, other growers here have not had issues in the 8" range, but that doesn't work well for me.

This is basically what I do with my 5 watt diode led lights over the course of a week or two.

I just let mine at about 18" and it does just fine for me. I use a Mars hydro 300 led.
Led are awesome

Thanks everyone. I have planted the two seeds that have germinated and am waiting for them to pop out of the soil. I wasn't really sure if they needed to be put under lights until they break the surface, but I put them under 6500k CFL's anyway and will put them under the LED's once they are seedlings. I will initially have the lights at about 28"- 30" for the first week or two, then work my way down depending on how well the plants are tolerating the light. Thanks for your suggestions.

I always use light while germing seeds. Gives them motivation lol. Pdunc the best is to start farther away and lower the lights slowly like mentioned above. Just be careful of serrated edges or tacoing which are signs of light stress
