Dear AFN,

I'm about to embark on my first grow and I'd really appreciate some help finding the right information to maximise my chances of success. I've seen a lot of information on here already but it mainly pertains to indoor/tent grown plants with artificial lighting, which unfortunately isn't an option for me.

My intended growing circumstance is this:
Seeds: Sweet Seeds Red Poison Auto
Location: Outside
Top Summer Temp: 45+ Celsius
Number of plants: 1
Climate: Dry, Southern Hemisphere

If anyone could direct me to the right thread, article or video that would a great help.

Thanks in advance AFN!

45°+ where are you Alice Springs lol?
Thats simply far too hot, you need to get the thing finished before the heat of summer so now is a good time to get planting.

I tried growing autos outside without a lot of success. The're a little tricky outside. You want maximum sunlight. If you plant in the ground the root system should take care of the heat issue. Buy some quality soil too. You will absolutely need a follier for the pests, bugs, mold...etc. You may want to get more seeds too, good luck.

Hahaha Not Alice. Further south on the coast. 45-47C is the hottest gets. Normal temp would be 35-37C, but a week with temperatures above that is not uncommon.

I was planning on growing in a pot. My thinking was that it would be easier to move the plant into the shade if the sun is particularly intense. I have a spot under a tree that still gets sun, but diffuses the light so the leaves don't burn. That's what I do with herbs so I was going to take the same approach with cannabis. I've got some extra seeds as well but I thought I'd start small.

Just dont grow through summer man. Do 2 runs a year, spring and autumn.
Pots need a lot of watering when its hot. If you will be there every day its no problem but if not consider digging a patch and putting them in the ground

Thanks Captain, appreciate the advice.

I'll plant straight away and try and get it done before the heat hits.

Are they fem seeds?
I would hate to see you use your first season growing out a male lol

All good as long as you go with a big pot (5 gal min) I would also make it a cloth pot. Autoflowers react badly to getting root bound, they'll flower early and you could end up with a three gram plant.
