Hey AFN!

I took @tripaholic88 advice and I'm starting a journal.

Pretty novice grower here from the West coast.
I have grown two outdoor big plants last summer and trying to learn the AF world as we go!

I have a small greenhouse in the back of my house that I plan to use until plants outgrow it... Or keep them in there if kept small.
I'm on various stages at this point.
Check out my setup:

That's a real 50w UFO LED from an old online store that I think doesn't exist anymore. And then a 300w Mars full spectrum light.
That spot gets about 6/8 hours is direct sunlight and then supplemented by LED and some extra CFL's in the future if needed.
At this point I've made the typical rookie mistake and I'm passed the over- watering and overfeeding stage of my grow (hopefully) [emoji36]

Anyways. My girls are:
2 auto skunks #1 (day 16 we got a little behind from over watering)

1 in a 4 gallon clay pot
1 in 7 gal smart pot (overkill, I know)

1 Somango (Day 16) in a 4 gal clay pot from advanced
at this point a little nute burn I think but already been flushed. Mutant looking one:

1 LSD 25 from Fast Buds (went in the 3 gal smart pot yesterday after going through cup of water overnight)
Day 0 still

I'm super excited to try some LST and ponytailing if possible.

I ordered voodoo juice and sensi bloom a n b perfect pH. I'm thinking of trying something like tangs easy schedule.
Using a mix of FFOF and kellogs organic plus plus 20-30% extra perlite.

I also have some fox farm big bloom and was thinking of feeding the skunks different nutes to compare but it would be fair as they are in different sizes pots and also clay vs smart pot.

This is it!
Wooo that's a lot of writing.

Yeah man they're a little behind and it's been rainy here so the sun's not out much. This week should pick up.

Can't rely on that little light to finish 4 plants I think

Hi bud and welcome to AFN. Sound like some nice seeds. I've got a feeling your going to like the, well all of them, but the LSD, FastBuds are some solid genetics. If you get a chance stop by their forum, lots of great plants there. @The Elvis is doing a test grow of their Guerrilla Glue. As soon as those bad boys go on sale they are going in my garden!

With the over watering, it's just a learning cure. Once you get a bit more experience, it will just be second nature. A good method of learning your soil is the lift test. It is easiest to start it with a fresh made pot, but you can learn in any stage. You would want to feed/water the plant, and when it properly drains (~5min) pick it up, and remember the weight. As you go along you will start to recognize that wight, and know if the soil need liquids. Wet and dry soil have vast differences in weight. This may be more difficult in the terracotta, but the same process will work.

I personally do daily feedings of small volumes. I start at 200-250ml with seedlings, and as my plant grow so do the feedings volume. By the end of flower time it can be anywhere from 1-2L daily. Size of pot, and plant pending.

So a 7 gallon pot is not really over kill. Most commercial pots are actually rated in trade gallons, so it is more like 5 gallons. A trade gallon is 0.71 US gallons, so 7*.71= 4.97 US gallons. I have 1,3,5,7 gallon pots all rated in trade gallons, and use them all for autos. Now it may be overkill for a generally small plant, but something like the LSD would be no issues.

If you have any questions feel free to ask. Just throw me an @Fuggzy tag. Take care bud.:smoking:

Yeah I've been lifting pots!

PH is another thing that has been slowing them down!
I finally got some earth juice at my hydro store.

I'm gonna order some mephisto and sweet seeds for my next batch and try new soil.
Was thinking of roots organic I think they sell that there.

Thanks for the good reads!

I have the classic set of earth juice nutes, and love them. I also think they are great for new growers, as they are verry gentle. I dosed a 3 week auto with the nute mix fir a full blown flowering photo mix (about 6x the needed dose, big oops!) and I didn't even get tip burn. It did contort the hell out of my plant, but it came back in about week.

Well actually I got the earth juice pH down!
Receiving the sensi bloom pH perfect next week to try those out!
