New Grower First Indoor Grow- CFL, and christmas lighting BAHAHA

I have a roughly 3 week old seedling, and just brought it from my school's greenhouse to my house. i have been planning for a while, but still have questions. For my setup, i have a wooden chest about 2 feet tall, 2 feet wide, and 3 or so feet long. I have bendable rope lights, i think 14watts per 2 feet, 10 feet total. I also have one 14watt CFL bulb, hooked up to a generic adjustable bedside lamp. The bendable lights are taped around the wall of the chest. For some reason i lined the underside of the lid with tin foil, thinking it would do something good for it. I am willing to buy more resources if needed. i know i need ventilation, and need some suggestions. heeeelllllpppp

Welcome to AFN. I see several problems with your setup. First is height. You didn't mention if you are growing autos, but since you are here at AFN I assume you are. Most autos get between about 1.5 to 2.5' tall, plus the height of the pot. So 2' probably isn't going to be enough. Second is the amount of light. For an area that size, approximately 6 sq. ft. about 300 total watts would be best. You've only got about half that amount. I'm also skeptical about the amount of penetration you will get from those lights. I doubt it will be sufficient. Also, tin foil shouldn't be used. It does not reflect light evenly and can create hot spots. You would be better off with reflective mylar or flat white paint. You will also need to ventilate the box and supply a small fan for internal air circulation. Smell can also be an issue. Most use carbon filters to eliminate the odor.

To be honest those lights wont net you results
if you had more height id say get a hps
the only other options i can see here is get a bank of t5's

i just purchased flat white paint, higher wattage CFLs, and small intake/exhaust fans for my next grow. This first grow is very small scale and just to break the ice for my next grow. For 6 ganja dwarf autoflowers, in a 3x2x3 box, how many 23 watt cfls is necessary?
