Great white doesn't do that to the water.
Your water looks like it came from a puddle in a muddy field. What exactly are you adding to it?
This is how my water looks:

Your water should look crystal clear with some bio-film and a very slight discolouration from your nutrients.

Unless I didn't rinse my Hydroton enough - it soaked for a while in PhD water (maybe low) and I did rinse before into the system.

First resevoir change - 22 days since germination!

Hey everyone, here's my first serious update - fresh pictures, resevoir change, and what a debacle that was!

Mixed 50L of tap water with 50ml x Micro&Gro, 25ml CalMag.

Managed to get water Everywhere like a fucking fountain when trying to drain, and also forgot to turn off the aquarium heater which consequently exploded as the water level dropped. Add this to the brown sludge which had accumulated (I still think this is Great White - it's like a very fine sand, and was added direct to the res, not mixed before hand, which could explain why it's still sitting)

Got things semi cleaned up - but definitely didn't strip and clean all the pots.

Sitting at 880ppm, 6.1ph. Hopefully the tent environment warms the water.
Will be back to ~20°c and 50/60%RH.

I'll let the pictures do the talking rather than me rambling on.

Once again this is day 22 from the seeds popping, and 12 days since going into the DWC/tent/QB.

Please! Give me alllll you got friends!

Your water should definitely not look like that.
The only thing I can think of is unwashed clay pebbles. It is most definitely not the Great White.

Haha I was waiting for your reply!

I agree it doesn't look right. I don't really want to pull everything apart at this point - a proper clean is going to have to wait...

I can see your water is coloured, yet clear where as mine is cloudy/muddy. Could be the Hydroton but I did rinse it twice, then soak it, and rinse again, but there was definitely still some gunk in the bottom of the bucket right at the end.

It doesn't look or feel like bad/rotting roots, in my opinion.

Appreciate your input. I'll see how things are in 24 hours.

Res has settled at
930ppm
22°c
6.0ph

I would avoid using buckets with rough surface and way to many corners and spots for bad stuff to hide maybe this is just me being overly cautious from my days of home brewing but the more places you provide bacteria to hide the chances of contamination is higher so for me only smooth surfaces and anything that comes into contact with the rez water completely sanitized including hands
I generally boil my clay pebbles a few times to kill of as much as I can and before every grow Star San no rinse sanitizer stuff is liquid gold most homebrew shops carry it

Sweet thanks I'll look for a cleaner for the next run, and I like the boiling idea
