Hello fellow autoflower enthusiasts. After several years of half-ass attempts to grow at home I have bitten the bullet and I'm going to give it an honest effort. This will be my grow journal.
My grow room :
Former Thomasville tv stand. It's a very solid piece of furniture. The space I've prepared for growing is 23" x 36" x 42". I covered the inside with reflective bubble type material that I got from an old employer. I drilled 2 holes in the top right wall and installed two 3" pc fans to blow warm air out. I made a door out of 3/4" b/c plywood. I installed a 4" high speed pc fan in the front for fresh air. With the door closed, both lights on, all 3 fans running, the temp stays pretty constant at 75-78 degrees F. Humidity stays around 50%
My growing method :
I started this grow a little over 2 weeks ago with a hydro setup. I was using rockwool, hydroton, 3" net pots and I was having such a hard time keeping my PH from climbing to almost 8.0 that my seedlings have been stunted severely. All the seeds that I'd started were alive and growing but their roots were brown, foul smelling, and just not good enough for me. I looked up some grows here in the forums of the same strains and saw that my hyrdo setup was just beyond my experience.
So 2 days ago I decided I didn't want to wast my expensive seeds. I decided to switch to soil. I followed this guide here:

So now I'm using half gallon nursery pots and an organic-ish soil mixture and some cheap, proven organic-ish nutes.
My lighting :
2 x Hydrofarm EnviroGro fixtures with 200W 6400K CFL bulbs in them.
My seeds :
I bought a lot of seeds when I first envisioned this grow. This is what I got.
Short Stuff Seeds:
3x Sharkbite (F)
3x Himalaya Blue Diesel (F)
10x Short Stuff #1 (R)
Flash Seeds:
8x Sour Diesel Haze Auto (R)
World of Seeds:
8x Afghan Kush Ryder (F)
Blimburn:
1x Northern Lights Auto (F)
This was a free seed with one of my orders.
Riot Seeds:
20x White Ryder (F)
These were a much appreciated gift from Matt Riot himself. I've seen some pretty negative posts about Matt in various forums but my experience has shown him to be a stand-up dude who's passionate about his genetics and to be honest...His genetics are the freakin bomb. Find someone who's smoked some Crinkle Cut Clockwork Orange and they will back that statement up.
I have a pile of free seeds from various seedbanks but nothing I'm prepared to grow until I've got some more experience.
So now that you know what I've got let me bring you up to speed on my progress.
I popped my first round of beans on 9/25. 4 Sour Diesel Haze, 4 Short Stuff #1
They all germed but some just didn't make it. I only kept 2 SDH.
On 9/29 I popped 2 more Short Stuff #1 and 2 more on 10/1.
I think I screwed up by taking the freshly germed seeds and putting them directly into rockwool plugs. I think the PH issues associated with rockwool may even cause them to all be male. But on 10/8 I trashed the hydro setup and transfered all 6 of them into solo cups with the soil mix. Some of these are 2 weeks old now and should be getting ready to show sex but they were stunted so badly that they still look like 3 day old seedlings. However, in the 2 days since I put them in the soil they have doubled in size and I think I'm on the right track now.
on 10/8 I also popped 8 more beans. 2 Sharkbite, 2 Afghan Kush Ryder, 2 Himalaya Blue Diesel, and 2 SDH. They got a 24 hour soak in distilled water and then went straight into half gallon pots of soil. They have yet to show any signs of life.
I'm happy to receive any feedback, tips, constructive criticism, yo momma jokes or general assaults on my character.
