New Grower First Grow - GCS Bubble Gum and Cheese

Right on, Path! The hardest lesson I have learned is that less is more! Especially during the first couple grows, that’s hard, man! I think that’s why I take so many photos now. I can enjoy them, without always messing with something.

It is such a fun hobby. At first I thought I was growing for the weed, but after each harvest, I cant wait until I am germing another seed! I love the peace and tranquility of my little garden. Growing is addictive, man.

Update day, and I'm on the horns of a dilemma. I decided that I'd look over the trichs today, and the Mayor is sitting at 99% cloudy with only a couple clear ones here and there, while Bubbles is all cloudy with a few amber trichs on each bud. They still have a good amount of white pistils, and Bubbles really looks like she could fatten up a fair amount. I'd love some input and thoughts, it seems too early since they're both at day 62. I know that the smaller root mass could lead to faster, but smaller, harvest, but this seems to early.

Looking at the plants as a whole, I'd say that The Mayor is pretty much done, the buds are fat and dense, and the small satellite that I cut last Thursday for a couple of Christmas bowls gave me the desired effect. It only had four days to dry, and no cure, but really good flavor and not too much couch lock, but I got a really good night's sleep and was able to cut my sleep meds dosage in half.

Bubbles just looks like she could stand to fatten up, again tons of white pistils, and the buds are not near as dense as The Mayor. I did cut a small satellite to test and I'll probably smoke that tonight and see if the effects are to my liking. Since she is more Sativa dominant, I'm hoping for a more energetic high.

I'm leaning to chopping the Mayor this weekend, but may change my mind based on responses. Bubbles should go at least another week in my opinion, regardless of the trichs, she just looks like she could fatten up more.

I got to be honest, there's a big part of me that doesn't want to chop either of them. I've been having a blast watching these girls grow up. I also don't want to have an empty tent, I've really enjoyed spending my evenings down there, listening to some tunes and forgetting about the annoyances of life for a little bit. With all the failed seeds that I tried to sprout during this grow, I'm also more then a little worried that I'm not going to be able to pull off more plants without failure. Probably unwarranted, but it is what it is.

Yeah I know, that's the smart money there. Another wise man once said "If you're out off weed and close to harvest, just go for it" oh wait, that was actually impatient old me! :smoking: I'm still leaning towards chop, but might do a partial harvest, on the third hand I might just do nothing! That's why i won't make a decision without sleeping on it.

Ok, so I've given it some thought, and I've decided The Mayor is coming down, and Bubbles is going at least another week.

The Mayor gave me exactly the type of high I remember from my youth. Starts off with a small amount couch lock, a little bit of the giggles and after an hour or so, I'm ready for bed. Perfect for my insomnia.

Bubbles on the other hand is still a bit too racy for my taste. I smoked a small bud from her last night, and holy shit, I was up until 1am. I didn't get any real anxiety or paranoia, but my mind was racing and I had to double up on my sleeping meds to get to bed. Where she stands now she'd be perfect for a daytime smoke, but I normally smoke in the evening, so not as compatible with my normal usage.

I'm beginning to think that 90% of what I smoked when I was younger was indica dominant, as The Mayor is just like what I remember, if a bit stronger. I've only gotten a high like I got from Bubbles maybe a couple of times.

I was feeling bad about pulling buds from both of them last week, but if I hadn't grabbed those testers, and just went by trichs, I would be leaving the Mayor to go longer and cutting Bubbles.

I'm sure I'm going to be questioning this decision, but I think it's going to be the right call. And hell, I've still got more seeds to play with!

Well, the Mayor went down today (giggity). It was a little tough, but got easier after the first snip. I'll let the pics do the talking, but first a moment of silence for the fallen, who gave her all to keep me

As suspected, root mass could have been better, but she was using up about 85% of the available soil:

And what we all are waiting for:

Obviously that's wet weight, but figuring I get between a quarter and half that, we're looking at .5-1 oz, not record breaking (or even noteworthy for that matter) but respectable given some of the early issues as well as the soil compaction. I think Bubbles will do better, maybe an oz or so. I'll get better bud shots when dry. I did a rough trim and removed the larfy buds, may neaten them up after drying.

I got a small batch of slow cooker cannabutter going and will make a half batch of chocolate chip cookies tomorrow, as well as a half batch of non special cookies for the kids.

I have know idea how strong or weak these are. I didn't weigh out the sugar leaves and larfy bud, just mixed all of it with a stick of butter and a quarter cup water in the slow cooker, let it steep for six hours, and chilled to separate. The wife and I each had one cookie, so I'll let it ride for a half hour and see if we need another.

I've never had edibles before, so no idea what to expect, so watch this space to see if i go all "reefer madness"y yeah, I've been smoking all day so even without the cookie, I'm a bit stoned!

Oh, and I never showed off my other Christmas gift to myself, I picked up a couple of new glass pipes:
