New Grower First Grow - GCS Bubble Gum and Cheese

Well, my apologies on advance for the shitty update today. I've been laid up with the flu since Saturday, I'm only now good enough to go back to work.

Let's start with wrapping up the Mayor, I've dried her out for a week now, and she's in a jar starting the cure. As seen below yield was an abysmal 15g. So swallow my pride, snack on some humble pie, and admit I rushed like an impatient 5 year old, and dicked myself out of a good yield.

Oh well, water under the bridge at this point, and I still have a half ounce of nice homegrown to smoke, so I'm not really too upset.

Bubbles is cruising along, although I'm noticing some leaves looking a little rough, and I'm not sure if it's a deficiency, I know I've neglected her the last week, so it's possible, or just a natural process. Any ideas. And on the subject, how much longer should I give her? @420Forever @Iriee Vibez @TxRebel

Well that's all I have the energy for this week.
She looks to b flushing herself out. Some N burn on the tips but she looks good.

Hey Puff, this plant I have going reminds me of the girl you just chopped last week. She has all cloudy tricks, and lots of brown/red hairs, but I can just tell from her bud structure that she has three more weeks. I will send an after shot of the top bud when she is ready to chop to give you a visual of just how much they can fatten and grow, even when the tricks are saying to chop.

I just finished cutting down 2 males last night that were in a 2x2x4 tent. With the light in there, they didn't have much room, and I had to keep topping them. Ended up barely getting enough pollen from one to pollinate because of that. So that will be something to keep in mind. When you're light's in there, youre going to have a much lower ceiling, and also the heat, depending on the light, is going to be something you want to keep an eye on. I only use mine for males, all my females except for the 24kt got too tall for it, without training.

Well, Bubbles got the chop today. Trichs were 90% cloudy/10% amber. I wanted to wait til the weekend, but the self-cannibalization was starting to freak me out, as dying sugar leaves were getting real close to going into the buds themselves. I don't know if that would have a negative consequence, but I didn't want to risk it.

So here she is, her final pics:

A little better on the wet yield:

I think I'll see better than 25% of that dry, since I cut the stems a bit shorter then I did with the Mayor. Assuming a 25% return, that will put me at about 1.25 zips for the two plant. Less then I wanted, but given the trials and tribulations of this grow a good return.

Next post by me will give a smoke report on the Mayor, and the all important dry bud pics!

BAG APPEAL: ***

***I want to preface this report with the fact that I harvested this way too early, so if harvest hadn't have been rushed, I'm sure it would have rated higher.***
Given my poor trimming skills, bag appeal is pretty average, nice mix of red and green which was always looked for when I was buying in the 90s and 2000s.

THE GROWTH: ****
She didn't grow that tall (less the 24"), but was pretty damn bushy. She was super easy to grow and took well to my inexperienced hands. Great strain for a newbie, the only way I could kill her was by chopping her!

THE SMELL: ***

Pretty generic weed smell, not much cheese, but I did pick it up once or twice throughout the grow. I'm hoping the cure might bring out some more nuanced odors and flavors.

THE SMOKE: ****

Even with just 10 days from harvest, it's a very smooth smoke. Primarily tastes like, well, weed. There's also a good hit of pine, and maybe a little bit of mint in the background.

THE HIGH: *****

This ones a little tough. A couple of hits (2-3) will get me high AF. Compared to what I was buying 10+ years ago this is top of the line herb.
For me though, it's a very introspective high. I spend a lot of time just thinking. For someone who has insomnia because my brain won't shut down, that's not the most conducive to sleepytime meds. It's a more productive variation of racing mind, as I can get to an actual solution to what I'm thinking about as opposed to just going around in circles.
It does still give that typical indica couch lock, so maybe not ideal for a wake and bake.
Overall it's a very cerebral high, and doesn't smack me too hard with the munchies or cotton mouth, so a really nice smoke, just not as ideal for sleep as I was hoping.

And of course, the bud pic:

Congrats on the harvest buddy :woohoo1:
First round is over and you've got two different jars of some sweet sweet homegrown to start your year
