New Grower First ever grow. Mephisto/RocBudInc

Hey all.

I planted a couple seeds last week and had germination success (mostly). I’ve managed to keep the oldest seedling alive for 7 days, so figured it was time to start an official journal of my first grow.

Set up:
2x2 tent
HLG 65 4000k for veg/HLG 100 3000k for flower
4” exhaust fan and carbon filter + hurricane clip-on fan
citric acid ph’d tap water. Shooting for around 6.5
Container: 2 in 5L fabric pots, 1 in 2.5L air pot.
Medium: 1/3 Kind Soil layered under 2/3 Roots Organic Original
Nutrients: none to start. I plan to top dress with Roots Organic Uprising Bloom in flower if/as needed. I will be starting a small weekly dose of Real Growers Recharge this weekend.

I planted 3 seeds directly to soil last week.

Rocbudinc’s Purple Scoops came up fast and is on Day 7 since sprout. Most vigorous grower of the 3 so far.

Mephisto Double Grape x 3 Bears OG came up next and is on Day 5. You can see the leaf tips are a bit twisted and they have been doing that since it sprouted. It has had better growth the past 2 days, so I hope it’s not too stunted.

My 3rd seed (meph northern cheese haze) never sprouted. I dug up a still ungerminated seed after a week and replanted with a Mephisto Forum Cookies. That has now sprouted and is on day 2 and looks good so far to my untrained eye.

I am still only watering with a spray bottle, but plan on doing a slightly more thorough watering with Recharge tomorrow.

Right now I am on 24/0 and not yet running exhaust fan as temperature and humidity seem to be mostly ideal with 75-80F and 65-75RH. I would say average has been 79F at 70RH. At what point should I consider switching to 20/4 and turning on the exhaust fan?

Edit: also, the powder in the pots is diatomaceous earth. Only applied as a preventative measure since I noticed a couple ants in the laundry room where the tent is located.

Looking good so far... Good luck to you on your first grow ever! Its been over 22 years since my first every grow and I still remember it. Nice outdoor gorilla grow of some mexican brick weed seeds I got out of a lb back in the 90's great times growing out in the corn fields!!! Things are a lot different now. Looks like you have some stellar genetics for your fist grow they should fill you with happiness when you reach the finish line!!!

No major issues yet. Consistent temps in the high 70’s/low 80’s, humidity in the 60-70rh range. Still no exhaust fan. Just leaving a couple tent intake flaps open a little bit.

I have given them 2 hours of darkness the past couple days and plan to move to 20/4 by the end of the week as long as temperatures and humidity stay manageable.

I gave one dose of Recharge and they all seemed to take it well. Starting to up the water amount as the soil has been pretty dry after 24hrs.

I also lowered the light about 2 inches as may be a bit of stretching???

@RocBudInc ‘s Purple Scoops is on day 12 still the reigning queen. Strong growth every day.

I am concerned about the slow growth of the Double Grape x 3 Bears OG which is on day 10 from sprout. She has had weird growth on both the first and second set of true leaves. The curled leaf tips on the first set and a stunted asymmetrical leaf on the 2nd. Maybe a mutation?

Forum Stomper is on day 7. Maybe a tad small, but growing and looks strong.

Purple Scoops day 15...first attempt at LST. Look OK? Any issue with one of the fan leaves touching the fabric pot?

Purple Scoops (day 17) recovering nicely from first LST of main stem.

DGx3BOG (day 15) she is growing, but still wonky.

Forum Stomper (day 12) growing nicely and will probably overtake the DGx3BOG soon.

It might be a coincidence but I did a second watering with Recharge a couple days ago and have had really fast growth since then, especially on my two smaller plants.

I am now running my exhaust fan full time on its lowest setting which so far is keeping temps in the high 70’s and humidity in the 50%’s. I am have been running the light at 20/4 for about a week now.

Purple Scoops at day 19 is showing sex.

Light LST on both DGx3BOG (day 18) and Forum Stomper (day 15).

I took it easier on these two than the Purple Scoops. I think I went too much, too fast on the LST on the Purple Scoops as it seemed to stall the growth for about 24 hours. I was worried I pulled too hard and yanked some roots. Thankfully she has bounced back though. Going to be gentler moving forward. Purple Scoops left, Sour Crack sprout rear, Forum Stomper right, DGx3BOG front.
