First AutoFlower Failure (Pics Posted and Help Needed)

:yeahthat:

Yes… your soil was definitely hot.
The Giai Green isn't needed until your soil is starting to deplete and when you’re ready to top dress (3-4 weeks after sprout) only add 1-2 tablespoons per gallon total, and not 2 tablespoons per gallon of each.
Best not to use that soil when you start over and plant your new seedlings.

Yeah your soil was too hot and adding fertilizer on top really fried it up. If your soil has any type of fertilizer in it, it usually wont need anything but ph'd water for about a month. With that said it is a good idea to give your plants spring water or tap water that way the water isnt baron and pulling some nutrients from the soil that first month. Make sure you reseach your nutrient line. Unless it says its specifically for cannabis its feed schedule might be really hot. I followed fox farms schedule and after getting a tds meter, I realized my feeds were like 3x too hot even for photos.

Also Id try and control those temp swings a little better in the future. Ive always read that cannabis prefers no more than a 7°-10° drop in temps from lights on to off when growing indoors. The high 80s is really really hot and later on in a grow that heat and humidity combo will cause problems. Also a stable temp will help keep humidity more stable as well. Also look for a soil thats ph is 6.3-6.8 straight from the bag, if its a peat based soil you shouldnt have to worry about the actual soil ph unless you're inputs are way out of wack for a long period of time. I was always told its really hard to screw up the ph in peat soils.

Thank you for the input. Hard when you are a noob and not sure what you are looking at. I at least researched a ton before starting :)
No problem buddy. Sounds like you got lots of advice already this is the best site to get your canna info and meet all really cool nice people. Its a family here. Welcome my friend we are here to help:welcome:

Too much YouTube. Those guys are there to sell products not teach you anything. You’re better off learning from a grower here
Yes, autos can be finicky… light starter soil. Let them grow into higher fert soil. Try a shotglass and place on a warm surface. Cable box or Wi-Fi box is perfect. As soon as you see a tail, plant. 4 days to germ seems long. Most seeds I drop are within 24 hrs til I see tail. If you having a problem germing, try adding 3-4 drops +or- of H2O2 to shot glass will help. How many watts is light? You could always raise light at same power. I don’t think I’ve ever set a light at manufacturers specs. 16” is as close as I get. We are all here to help. 5 years ago, I was in the same position. Burnt 3 seeds! Back to back. You’ll get better every grow. And… beats paying for it. My flower far surpasses dispensary! Your will too!

Gaia Green is a great line btw. But as mentioned, 5-6TBS is just too much for autoflowers. When they say 3TBS on the back, they assume you are not adding anything else. 3TBS/gallon is the combined amount of dry amendments. 5TBS/gal of any dry amendment combined is a lot for autoflowers, especially the seedlings.

Baby auto flowers. My flowering and vegging autos take the same nutes as my photos with no problem

Wouldn't the recommended 3TBS/gallon be what a typical photoperiod would take, as per their recommendation? In that case I agree. 3 to 4 should be fine in a healthy soil with a healthy plant.

Based on the OP's starting soil (Black Gold Potting Soil Plus Fertilizer) 6TBS/gallon of dry amendments + existing nutes would make for a very hot start.

No doubt. I use ffhf and don’t feed till around day 30. When I do feed they get hit with a full dose but probably watered down some
