There is no meaningful difference in output between the 36 and 72 volt cobs. In fact, amateur light builders are better off sticking with the 36v just for safety reasons, the resistance barrier of your skin is 40 volts, only .100 amps at 72V has the pontential to kill you.
I could run 4 36 volt per Mars but it is double the price.. Wish they were cheaper for the 36 volt

I'm not sure what you mean. There will be a difference when using different chips. The cxb3070 at .7A is around 59% efficient. The cxb3590 72v at .7A is around 56% efficient. The 36v cxb3590 will be 64%.The 36v cxb2530 will be 46%. It's all about balancing cost and efficiency.

No, I mean that there is no difference in a 72v CXA 3070 or a 36v CXA 3070, etc. The 72v versions are great in long strings of commercial lighting. In our lights, the 36V are every bit as good, AND safer.

There is no CXA3070 72v AFAIK. This thread is about mars conversions, too. So you're limited by the current provided from the drivers(around .7A) different voltage chips offer different wattages, efficiencies, and cost.

Outside of Mars conversions, the 36v and 72v cxb3590 offer different build options as well. I have a pair of 72v on an hlg185-1400, I'd need a 2.8A driver to get the same wattage out of the 36v version.

I'm not sure of a number for "safe voltage", I'd rather people use proper safety measures regardless of voltage. Don't have exposed wires, unplug before working on anything, never use both hands when something is live, don't stick a fork in the wall, etc.

I am likely converting the rest of my Mars 300's doesn't look like cutter has the 3590 72 volt 3500k's in stock.. Anywhere else have them for a decent price?
