Fiber optic cables direct light straight to fan leaves.

Mine would have jumpers all over the place, through a tea cup, under the pizza boxes and I'd try to move it and all the shit on my desk would slide off with it.

Still working in what my first experiment would be. I'm thinking of substituting tomatoes to see which aspect of the idea I can improve on first. I want to know if you focus the light enough onto a bundle of side glow cables if you can just lay them down on the fan leaves. The budsights will need a proprietary optic, probably elliptical to match their shape. The plant might reject the side glow cable, but then I'll just switch to solid core end glow and put lens on the end of it. If the signal attentuation, or degradation, is too much to justify their use, I'll just remove them and use the primary lens and that's it... then I just have a 20 watt LED grow light with a specialized PAR spectrum. But I can recover data from the experiment and see if it scales up, if I used 5w leds, and thicker cable, or more side glow cable per leaf set. At what point would it grow, is there a balence somewhere and if not, can I contribute to current LED optics?

I didn't know about this, but I definitely like it. Cannabis is a large plant though and there's a lot of surface area to cover. They dialed it down to deep red, blue, and white for filler. It grows lettuce, but lettuce is short and flat, at least moreso than cannabis, and in a scrog situation, you'd need to pack the led's in close for better penetration. That order form is confusing as hell though. ;) This would be great for seedlings, but so is a good t5 panel. I'm gunna do more research into it. Thanks for thhe link.

They have a fourth led (near infra red) coming later, or it might already be out... I think it's a brilliant product and I wouldn't mind if you could add or detach modules on the fly... sort of as your plant grows.

Nice find mate ill enjoy reading through that

Planning and developmental stages... coffee and patience are ironically both required in equal amounts. A dash of kief for inspiration and a shot of whiskey to sort of mix everything together nicely. Not for the faint of heart, or early mornings.

I have a new led coming from amazon. 150w led, multi-spectrum... I'll letcha know what I think of it when I get it. I plan on getting collimators (the spectrum mixing fiber optic lens) and fiber soon. The led package is atypical, 3 rows of twenty ish diodes, all 3w epistar chips. I can modify the heat management system to lower the junction temperature if I need to, which in the meantime, during trials I will monitor with an infrared thermometer. There's no real telling how many micromoles of PAR the FO cables will emit without a thousand dollar lab instrument, but like I said, a cheap substitution is tomato plants. If it works there, I can move forward.
