its one thing if AFN gave them permission. pretty sure they didnt say take whatcha want. and yes the internet loves stealing shit. its all about the green coupons everyone seems to covet. pure and simple. but yeah i hear ya.

If i type fastbuds g14 into google images the first pic and 4 outa the next 6 are of my grows! Plus the pics on their website are of mine.
I dont reallymind but it would be good of them to ask and at least offer to send some free packs of seeds
:pass:

It's not allowed from our side ... and permission has not been granted.

We're actively looking into ways to prevent this from happening - If you have any suggestions, please feel free to add them in here and we can take them into account.
Sorry this has happened - It's an unscrupulous practice to say the least.

I'm not sure what can be done other than Konop to ask for them to delete the face book photo (which i think he has).

I'd like to hope that ultimately the bad press that companies get from doing these things outweighs the good things that happen for them.

exactly!! if they were cool about it but they werent?!lol maybe its me but Id still be pissed off.LOL thats why I dont go looking. Ive ssen several of mine all over the place from tests n stuff. but I was given something and gave permission. if a breeder took and I said nothing like that and got no credit and/or beans or some such amount of right and cool,Id be pissed off. LOL just how Im wired I guess LOL

Aye everyone..at the end of the day it really does all boil down to this...:headbang:

FYI; anything you post anywhere on the internet is there for good and free access to anyone to use unless stamped with TM (Trade Mark)

The Fastbuds account in no longer Active on [HASHTAG]#afn[/HASHTAG]..so we have nothing to Sanction them with that could maybe have effect.

Best suggestion going forward is to Watermark your photos.

We did look some time ago about having an automatic watermark for all photos that are loaded on to site..but it was expensive ..and a lot of staff thought members wouldn't appreciate an AFN Watermark on their photos either...

I'm Afraid it is one of those Problems we know happens..but really have no Control over.

Why be botherd about them using ur pictures on there website .u should feel proud.fastbuds are a top quality company making awsome seeds, for us u growers to grow.they have dished out loads of test beans to growers and kept the community happy with great genetics.they were a sponsor here so that does cost them.so shouldnt a sponsor here be able to use any pictures they want to as a thanks for what they do for us??

You should be proud that one of your pics is featured by FastBuds. Yes they could have told you, but I am proud of every one of mine they use.

I have worked with High Times and they will not accept a picture that has previously been posted anywhere on the net.

Whether something is copyright or not, information you post is still considered private domain unless you grant specific access to public domain in writing. It doesn't matter if "oh you posted it on the internet," if it's original material and you're the creator and can prove that, it's yours. The reason it's hard to enforce isn't because of the law, it's because it costs MONEY. An attorney/lawyer is going to run you $300-500/hour and have fun if it's an international company. Most cease and desist letters are sent by the company or individual, not by a legal entity (despite what the letterhead might look like.)

FastBuds has no right to the pictures here; and any pictures uploaded for contests/promotional events belong to AFN (as per the TOU, which everyone agrees to by posting here.) It's honestly never come up before, so it's just been one of those silent things that hasn't been brought up before.

Can we do much about it? Not really. Honestly, if it's on FB, report the post and tell them you're the creator of that particular content they are posting and that they don't have your permission to be reposting your pictures. If they can't furnish proof they have permission, it's possible FB would make a decision to protect it's OWN interests. That's my best suggestion to you, Konopch.

By the way, I noticed Fastbuds took down the one picture I specifically saw you tagged in, @KonopCh . Either their spies have told them you're mad or someone already reported it lol...

There are some good free apps where you can design your own watermark.
Im not tech minded at all but managed to make a simple one

We've looked into watermarking for any pictures uploaded on the site (nothing crazy, just a semi-transparent logo or something in one of the corners.) Maybe a "Hobbes was here" stamp or something to that effect :hump:
