UPDATE WEEK #2- (please note week#1 update was posted Wednesday 2/16/22 reply #89 on this thread) tried to edit it to tag you both but don’t have that option on the phone for some reason.
The Nitty Gritty:
Hello from the rainy Virginia Mountains !!
Was a busy afternoon in the grow room, decided to up-pot the FBT2201 girls into their final home.
The 4x8 tent won’t be here until Thursday so I figured I’d knock everything out today (water/feed and up-pot).
Grab a chair and hang on tight this is gonna be a fun ride LOL
Pre-weights on both, they were thirsty for sure.
Mixed up Happy frog, 3 cups of worm castings, 2tbsp of Recharge in a 10 gal plastic tote .
Mixed everything really well 3 times.
Accidentally knocked over FBT 2201 #1 which made quite the mess on my carpeted grow room ugh !! The plant stayed intact in the cup so I do not think there was any damage worth worrying about.
Using my new “Tall” 3 gallon grow bags, I added about 2 cups of hydroton to the bottom of the grow bag first.
Was just enough to cover the entire bottom surface. Added the soil mixture to about half and inserted a empty solo cup.
Filled around the cup and lightly packed in.
Twisted and removed the cup for a perfect new home for the root ball.
Lightly sprinkled Great White mycorrhiza in the hole.
Gently squeezed the solo cup outer surface and flipped it over in the palm of my hand , being careful to cradle the plant between two fingers to not damage it. Lightly pressed on the bottom and voila !
They appear to have nice rootball structure to my untrained eye
Set the rootball in the hole and gently pressed it in
Added straw mulch about 1” deep to the top of the soil.
Repeated the above process for FBT2201 #2
Once both plants were in place and situated in the grow tent I watered them in using the 10% method from BAS (1.2qts each, total), very slowly with a spray wand.
1/4 of that amount went to each plant and then came back about 2 hours later and finished the remaining watering.
Water/food Mixture:
#1 was Gold Leaf Auto week 2 Schedule
#2 was Foop Week 2 schedule
Cal-Mag went into both mixtures at the standard rate of 2ml/gal
Final PH: 6.5
Final PPM: 0920 #1 0863 #2
On a side note:
I’m not sure if this is the proper way but if my PPMs are higher than what I want I have been “diluting” with RO water and rechecking ppm and ph before feed. This seems to work well in my hydro grow, so I thought I’d give it a try in soil too
Now to let them rest a few days and I’ll add about 4-6 red wigglers to each bag if everything looks good.
