I've always been a huge fan of the ducting hoods! What about instead of two sockets running a bathroom vanity fixture down the middle with three sockets and Y splitters?

Good idea!
I'm guessing the guy in the video had to make a cut in the middle of the ducting or do they come like that?

You've got to make a cut. Tin snips go a long way in these projects.

This is exactly what i made but mine is four feet long.In stead of bathroom fixture I used a 12 plug strip which is also four feet long.I got it at menards, but home depot or lowes should carry them. You then buy plug to socket adapters, add some y adapters and you have a 24 light fixture.I use sixteen 100 watt equiv 2700k cfl's and four 200 watt equiv 6500k cfl's.I then used some spray glue and lined the inside with mylar for reflection, added some chain for hanging and your set.
