After some time I have returned to the online community, to my delight much has changed while I was away. The effort of like minded citizens has the great state of Alaska joining the few enlightened states that reject prohibition. I feel a momentum building, unleashing a domino push that I feel cannot be held back. As the true capabilities of cannabis wins hearts and minds of the people via unprecedented accurate media coverage.
As I have been away I have not been idle, I've spread the word, seeds and cuts to get cannabis into the light. My efforts have blessed me with a limited wisdom that follows experience. I have helped those that could benefit from my limited experience, sharing the triumphs of a cycle well finished. The true joy on the face of a grower as they hold up that first fat cola from that first home run, home grown girl, it's a glorious sight indeed.
While auto flowering cannabis has been the focus of much debate, the negative voice sounds to me unintelligible, nonsensical even. Of course the one argument that put me off more than any was that auto flowering and high THC are mutually exclusive. To which I still reply, "is THC all cannabis means to you?".
I do not use euphemisms for breeding, if your actions result in a batch of viable seeds collected, congratulations you bread cannabis. I have never referred to anyone as a "pollen chucker" as to say such a thing to a person who has taken time to breed cannabis plants in my simple view would be outrageous. Simply working a strain for a few generations has provided for me endless intrigue as I gingerly tiptoe the path of life our ancestors were so tightly dependent, agriculture.
Ok so now that you know too much about how I "feel" I should mention why I even turned to auto flower varieties.
I live on the west coast with an average annual daytime temperature of ~70°f, it's nice. As the spring turns into summer the heat whips the marine layer into a frenzy. Morning dew is so thick it looks as if a rain has fallen in the night, water dripping everywhere. Often summer with be so overcast in June that plants will actually flower in the fog for lack of full sun! To solve this problem in 2007 I purchased a single pack of original Lowryder from seedbay and set to crossing with all my favorite cuts.
With a huge batch of F1's from LR#1 and my cuts from my then job as an associate for a club I set out testing the F1's. I was shocked at the results, almost every issue was solved with only one cross with a full automatic strain. Many of the F1's would flower much earlier than the original cuts. Some testers were even "semi automatic" in so far as they would flower without revegeitation if placed outside after an 18/6 veg cycle. Some plants would start to flower in July as the days started getting shorter finishing in August.
After those first test grows I knew that automatic varieties were a tool that I would always keep in my belt.
And so after a lengthy introduction I say to you my friends, Hello and best of seasons to you.
