Live Stoner Chat Electronic Cigarettes - Smokless Smokes.

When I first started VV didn't exist. Even the 6 volt big battery mods weren't very common, there was only a couple. But once I realized I was going to stick with it 1-2 weeks in I picked up a Silver Bullet and a bunch of 3v batteries and never looked back. The generic chinese 555 liquid was what really helped me quit, so I'll always have a soft spot for tobacco liquids. They have to be done well, though, or they can taste pretty awful. I can't do coffee flavors myself, as a coffee snob they liquids just don't taste good enough for me. Same with most chocolate flavors. What I love the most about vaping is that there is something for everyone. I never imagined I'd be a fan of fruit flavors or bakery liquids, and if you told me 5 years ago that inhaling a liquid that tastes like a very well made bananas foster would help me quit smoking I don't think I would've been able to stop laughing, but sure enough they all worked to help me kick cigarettes.

I concur completely about the tobacco flavors - they really do need to be "done well" to taste right.

I've tried a few, now - some really bad, a few really good.

The RY4 I tried tasted like celery to me - though it had received quite a number of 5 star ratings on the retailer's site. Perhaps I just got a bad batch - I'll let it sit a while, and try it again.

My favorite so far, is a mix of "Black Honey Tobacco", "Smooth and Mild Tobacco", and three or four drops of "Menthol Tobacco" - but I've always been a "more is more" kinda guy!

I have some sample flavors that aren't tobacco based on the way - I'm looking forward to trying them.

Quick question, if I might Ratatoskr - is there a reason in particular, that you prefer the 100% VG liquids for your everyday vaping? Taste, "smoke" volume, distrust of pure PG?

I'm heartened to read so many testimonials of how e-cigs have helped folks kick the habit - very heartened indeed. Congratulations to all of you!

At first, vaping VG was mostly a convenience thing. Dekang was the largest e-liquid company around and they used mostly VG. I quit using their menthol and 555, so I had a small stockpile. Then a friend who turned me on to the SB gave me 50ml of AV bananas foster. I started looking into other liquids after that, and noticed that PG didn't feel as much like smoke, made my throat feel scratchy, and really dehydrated me. I have several friends who are allergic to PG, and I've learned that I enjoy VG based liquids more, so I just keep it there. It's not distrust of PG for me as much as it's just a less satisfying, more problematic liquid for me. And while all PG vapers try to chase down that elusive 'throat hit' feeling that mimics the experience of smoke hitting the back of your throat, VG vapers get that feeling with every pull.

When I first started vaping, the larger US forums all had info on vaping groups all over the country. Groups of vapers would get together at a restaurant, try new devices and swap liquids, and just enjoy the company. I met guys in their 60s who had been 2-3 pack a day smokers for 40+ years that quit when they got their first e-cig. Guys who had been smoking since 10-12 who gave it up overnight and never went back. It was a hell of a thing to see, an I always mention folks like them to people who mention e-cigs in person. Many countries have small pockets of vaper groups, you might want to poke around ECF and VF and see if there is anything close to you.

Thanks for that, Ratatoskr - I've been finding recently that the PG liquids I've been using have made my throat feel a bit scratchy, recently.

I have a number of VG liquids winging their way towards me, at the moment - and I'm looking forward to trying them. Perhaps they will be a little "smoother" for all-day vaping than the 100% and 70%/30% PG liquids I've been using, recently.

Not much chance of E-Cig groups in my neck of the bush - ha ha! Group gatherings aren't really my thing, anyway - but thank you for the suggestion, regardless.

The experience you've shared here with me (and all that have perused this thread) has up-ed my E-Cig knowledge base immeasurably, and I thank you very much for that.

No problem at all. I'm always glad to pass info along, and when it comes to info that could help people kick such a tenacious habit I'll help any way that I can. Getting used to vaping can take some practice, and as your sense of smell and ability to taste start coming back you might find yourself looking for completely different flavors and textures down the road.

I definitely understand what you're saying about groups, I'm pretty antisocial myself most of the time. But there's something to be said for being able to try dozens of juices and devices without spending a ton of money or taking the risk you'll hate it and end up with a ton. I really enjoy Mt Dew and Red Bull flavored liquids, I don't drink soda so I never would've known that without going to a meetup or two. I discovered how awesome Tasty Vapor can be, even if that means occasionally having to deal with some PG scratchiness (you don't ever want to get between me and my Atomic Cinnacide or Tasty Finger). My first exposure to Azure Vaping, who have supplied me with all my everyday liquids for over 3 years, was at a meetup. I'm definitely not saying you should run out and start your own group complete with cute name and cuter mascot or anything, I'm just pointing out they have their place even for folks like us.

For what it's worth, if you have a hard time finding 100% VG vendors without ridiculous prices (I usually vape 3-5mls a day, so most vendors are pretty expensive to me) there are a lot of good DIY suppliers and recipes floating around. I'm obviously much more familiar with US suppliers, but if you need any help finding suppliers let me know. The same goes for anything else vaping related. If it wasn't for other folks talking with me about it back when I might still be a smoker.
