Old Reviews electronic ballast recommendations?

Actually, after reading your posts Spelsylver, I think I'm going to go with one of these Select-A-Watt 400-600 Electronic ballasts, since I already know sun is legit. $237.95 isn't much over my budget and I already have some bulbs and a reflector that will work with it for the remainder of my current grow.

In your opinion, what do you think of two of them running next to eachother in 400w to increase your light size?

It would be hard for me to run two 600w next to eachother, that's too much to cool in my 8' by 4' space.

yeah i've been really pleased with sun system....my tent is made by them and it gives you extra dimension space than advertised which means more space in their tents and i have the 2 digi ballast and my most recent purchase was a daisy chain sun blaze system that i keep for my seedlings and old 2x4 tent.

2 600 watters will be way too much heat for your space but you should be fine running em on 400...then when the time comes and you have more space you won't have to spend the extra money on more wattage, all you have to do is turn the dial one click to the right and you are good to go!

inline fans work wonders for the heat by the way if you don't have one. It allows me to run my 2 600 watters side by side.

Also they are switchable so you can have a full spectrum if you wanted, one mh and the other hps. I'm running that experiment now with my photos :)

p.s. keep in mind that if you are going to use old bulbs, you have to put a 600 watt bulb in there. even though you will be running 400 watts your bulb needs to be compatible with the ballast so you will need the 600 bulbs. I use Plantmax and the 600s run me about $40 a piece.

also forgot to mention the soft start on the galaxy ballast...when you turn them on they don't blast right on like a lot of others causing the bulb to burn out in some instances...with the galaxy sunsystems, the ballast gives itself a minute to adjust to being turned on. they are also dead silent and don't cool to the touch (the ballast itself). they also come with a 5 year warranty

just remembered same for lumatek aslo a superlumen setting for 10% more than 600 watts apparently slightly lowers bulb life but other than that seems useful. i can see the difference in brightness anyway so doesnt seem like a gimmick.

the galaxy offers the same kind of feature called Super Charge, although i have not used it. 1200 watts is plenty for me in my tent and as far as i know it does't save me any on my electric bill. dude at the shop says its a marketing strategy to set certain companies apart but has seen no real noticeable difference in his yield when applying the Super Charge.

I personally went with the Galaxy Sun System because of the reputation and quality reviews.

interesting, all the lumatek one does is add 10 percent more wattage and overcharges the bub in a safe way(i think).
you are getting more lumens though so im sure it has an effect on yield. not why i bought it or anything just im sure it has some effect ill take an extra few grams any day.

have you used it through a grow?

no i said in an earlier comment just bought, im waiting for seedlings to mature a bit. im just saying its an obvious result of more lumens, more energy available to the plant will result in better yield aslong as other conditions are fine. possibly a tiny difference but a difference none the less thats why i said a few grams. im sure the galaxy is good i was just saying what the lumatek has as he was looking for info at the start.

i doubt ill ever do a side by side with clones but if i do ill report back.
