Dutch Passion Dutch passion auto ultimate with dutch pro autoflower soil nutes

Hi gonzo. Just saw your message. Will get a pH reading of run off next watering. Only saw message after I watered.

OK here goes. Watered earlier today. PH of nutrient solution was 6.7 which I adjusted to 5.87. 1 litre which got completely soaked up. Read gonzos comment. Mixed another litre of solution which was 6.7 again. Did not adjust as thought would raise pH a bit. Watered and this time got some run off which I checked. PH of run off was 6.0.

6.7 in, 6.0 out gives average 6.35.

Have I done this right? Is 6.35 good for soil?

Hey Trip ! I'm no pro but from what I've learned here on AFN I'm pretty sure that when your run off ph is lower than your feed/water ph you take the difference of those two values and subtract it from your run off ph ...sorry if that did not make any sense because I'm pretty medicated right now so here is a copy of a formula I was given once and I'm pretty sure someone will pipe in if I am incorrect ....here it is :
Got ya covered,

Rough Calculation Guide:

Here's some good info on ph.....
If your runoff pH is higher than your starting pH, use this equation to determine your soil pH:*
Soil pH = Runoff pH + Difference

If your runoff pH is lower than your starting pH, us this equation:
Soil pH = Runoff pH - Difference.

For example, say your the starting pH of your solution before it goes in is 6.5 and the pH of your runoff is 7.0. The difference is +0.5, so using the above equation:
Soil pH = 7.0 + 0.5*
Soil pH = 7.5

If your starting pH is 6.5 and your runoff is 6.0, your difference is -0.5 and using the above equation:
Soil pH = 6.0 - 0.5
Soil pH = 5.5

Hope that helps buddy ! One love !:Sharing One::cool:

Bit confused now. Dutch pro autoflower soil chart says optimal nutrient solution pH of 5.8. I have been trying to stay as close to this as possible. However my run off test showed I should be feeding solution with ph 6.7 to get a soil pH of 6.4 which is what I should be aiming for. Am I correct in saying this? I have been adding about 5 drops of pH down to 1 litre of nutrient solution to get pH 5.8. As the plant has had double water today to get a run off reading I expect it will not need watering for a couple of days. Do you think the next feeding should be at pH 6.7 or should I add just a couple of drops of pH down to bring it to 6.1 for example.

Thanks Calabria. So my soil pH is 6.7 in minus 6.0 out equals 0.7.
6.0 minus 0.7 equals a soil pH of 5.3.

Calibra you said you have been getting low pH run off with your grows as well. I presume yours is not as low as mine. Someone mentioned that pH down can build up in the soil lowering its pH. Not sure if this is true or not but I noticed Dutch pro have a pH down for grow and another for bloom. My pH down is not Dutch pro but is same as the bloom pH down. What are you using? As I seem to add down every time I think I will buy the Dutch pro grow pH down.

I'm just new with growing and Dutch pro nutes so I wish I could give you some solid advice, but from my first white Russian grow I know that later in flowering the ph in my medium dropped drastically (very acidic) and I used some advice by adding gypsum to my medium to help raise my ph. Ive slowly raised the ph not perfect but it helped and I've been also feeding at a ph in between 6.4 and 6.6 . im actually flushing her now as she's showing signs of maturity and she's 70 days old tomorrow! I started a second white Russian and she is 23 days old now and I've been feeding her at 6.4-6.5 from the start and she seems t be pretty happy except for a few minor white tips on a couple leaves. which after giving her a good feed of nutes and cal/mag helped a lot because the new growth is very healthy looking to me. so I am kind of experimenting and trying to see what this new girl will react. I may even slightly raise the ph in my feed when she starts to go into a heavier flowering because I read somewhere that late in flowering the buffer at the roots cause the ph to drop a lot.....so don't know if any of that helps but I think I've learned a little from my mistake's but I am sure there is still tons more for me to make still so please if you do take any advice I would wait for one of the more experienced growers hone in ! hopefully someone with the dutch pro soil green thumb!

ive been using the dutch pro ph down both the grow and bloom but I still ended up with too low ph . I find the cal/mag ive been adding helps lower the ph of my feed hence not having to add more ph down in my mix at the end and its something I didn't do to my last girl ....so this time the new girl is going to get cal/mag at least every other watering and I hope I get better results this time .......
