Last night, i stopped by my local headshop and picked up a Ryot Humidor. It was my birthday so i got a discount. All i had to do was ask for it. Paid $50 for it, original price $70. I've had my eye on one of these boxes for a while so i said why not...a gift to myself on my born day.
It's a small wooden box about 6x3 inches. Magnets make sure all tiers of the box stay secure and closed. This box is intended to be used as a storage box for tobacco products and cigars, and has 2 storage compartments seperated by micron screen mesh. The bottom black glass tier is where water is supposed to go to keep tobacco fresh, humid...makes for a perfect kief sifter!
Today on my lunch break i picked up 5 pounds of dry ice. I only have about a pound of frozen trim and popcorn buds, so 5 pounds is more than enough. Cost me $8.00.
I wanted to do a test run on my lunch break so i busted out a gram of frozen popcorn buds and trim. weighed it out to get an accurate reading on how much keif to expect from my whole load.
the results:
after 1 gram of trim + 2 pieces of dry ice (they come in small 2 inch long pieces) i closed the lid and started shaking it up for about 3 minutes.
I got .2 grams of blonde kief. Not freakin bad for only 1 gram of trim. That means i should be averaging about 5 grams of kief for every ounce of trim i shake up with the dry ice.

here's what the bud looked like after the shake with dry ice...pulverized!
and some kief shots...not bad for only a gram!
If anybody is going to try this themselves make sure you put on gloves before you touch the dry ice and DO NOT seal it in an air tight container. it will explode
