New Grower Dr. Frog's Think Different LED organic grow journal

Thanks, man.

Unfortunately, it'll be about Monday or Tuesday before the big LED gets here. I ordered a week ago but FedEx tracking says "shipment exception delay beyond our control." Pretty bummed out because I was personally told it'd be here this week, then it went to Monday and now this weird shipping delay. It's a shame because I think the plant can handle a lot more now.

So in the mean time, I'll just make due with the CFL. I've moved it super close and there's a constant stream of air going right between the bulb and the plant so neither get too hot.

I'm confident it'll be worth the wait though. It has 140x5 watt LEDs.The actual power draw is rated like 370-420 watts if I recall correctly. I've seen a few different numbers so I'll probably end up testing that myself. In either case, it seems like plenty of LED watts per square foot in my small tent, especially with just one plant.

Yes, plenty of watts, that is why I had asked you about it, because if you stay with CFL you will start to loose growth daily but I see you are perfectly aware of that.

Do you think I'm losing growth at this current stage with just the CFL? I mean, I know I'm certainly not pushing it to it's limits, but I don't think the plant is necessarily starving for light either. It's a 45 watter, at 5500k color temperature. So far it's nice and green, and the spacing between the nodes is short. The "canopy, " if such a small plant can be said to have one, is relatively equidistant from the bulb itself, so I figure it's making the best use of the light it has. Do you think getting a "Y" splitter socket fixture and an additional bulb is necessary, or should I just hold out for the LED?

Day 15

I noticed something odd about my plant today.

At the base, there seems to be a split in the outer stem. It looks the same on the opposite side of the plant. Maybe she's just fattening up so quickly she's getting stretch marks! :P

I went ahead a topped up the soil with a mix of equal parts Coco loco, Worm Gold Plus, and Boogie Brew compost tea mix. I gently scratched it into the soil to make use of some of the excess perlite gathering at the surface. This way that little "stretch mark" is under soil. I figure the exposed tissue may take the opportunity to make roots before it hardens.

looking great! I doubt the the stem is anything to worry about.. like you said stretch marks :D. So you went ahead and topped? Do you see a benefit to it? Im debating if I should do it as well since my soil sunk another inch since potting. Im about two inches from the edge now; and honestly it really bothers me. :X

You will see an explosion of growth with in the next few days.. I was about where you were before I left the country for a few days.. when I got back I was shocked by all the new growth. :D
