Dutch Passion DP Think Different with GN HS1

Looks like another healthy petite plant for you Derek. How far do you keep your light above your plant?

My 79 day TD is pretty much as far along as your 55 day old, but looking a lot worse for wear :( You're doing something right buddy ;)

TD is lovely stuff, my fave. As Tony said a ball of buds with perfect penetration like that. I think your small plant problem is growing in a loft in winter. Grab some more tube heaters (two for that space) and more importantly a temperature measuring fan controller so you can control the amount of cold air sucked in at night. You can set fan speed and it only kicks into full extract when temps rise. You need two heaters so that it's always warm and there is fresh air intake aswell.

Small is beautiful mate, frosty as fuck so as you say, that's why your doing all this.... for the quality!!! They are some tasty looking buds there!

I can't help wondering why they stayed so short, by day 20 they should have been a bit bigger.... I had this issue with soil, which is why I switched to Coco, but have you thought of adding some kind of root stimulator in the early weeks (weeks 2-onwards), (like H&G Roots excellurator), and maybe an enzyme to breakdown dead root into absorbable micronutrient?

Were you doing circumferential watering in weeks 1-3 to encourage root scavenging? And what was your light height, i found that I got taller plants by pissing around with the heights, 3ft was good for me to start with, I didnt adj the height of the lights, the plants grew up to them. Once they got established, they liked the lights a bit closer. Autos need the best possible start and a good 1st 4 weeks to get the best out of them.

Something was slowing them down mate, I reckon once you nail that, you will be asking for a chainsaw recommendation!

Are you using any bloom boosters..... PK13/14 or anything?

You might also wanna look at the Tropf Blumat watering system, very reliable, and reasonably cheap. Glad you beat the bug!

I think the soil is ok as I grew the StarRyder in it which was a decent size, but I think you might be onto something with the watering, I dished the soil surface a little to stop water pouring out the sides of the airpot, but i overdid it so the water tended to pool in the middle, more than likely the edges stayed too dry restricting the roots a bit. I was adding biobizz root juice, not sure it does all that much though!

That and temps have been a little low.

I'm using Biobizz topmax and bio bloom, but nothing anything like PK13/14. I'm contemplating changing nutrients, the bio grow is nasty gloopy stuff and I'm running low and thinking I don't want any more of that, any hot tips?

Lovely frost shots Derek.

Thanks!

Thanks man. Right now the HS1 is about 250mm above the high tops, the mars light about 350mm, I kept them a good bit higher during stretch though.

Your TD doesn't look to have piled on the weight like I thought she would, sorry I've hardly been around for a few weeks, on my way over to catch up on your progress!

small but well formed, and by the time she is done she should be a ball of buds. You are doing well, and the frosty finish shows the quality will be there for the xmas smokes. All the best

Thanks for stopping by. A ball of buds sounds wonderful! She certainly seems happy enough for a small plant, I'm really looking forward to trying her out, hopefully suitable for some new year excess.

Sure you're right about the loft in winter, it's not quite under control like previous grows. High temps have been sensible at about 27C under lights, but down to about 19C with lights out and it must take an age to warm up, that and I suspect I ballsed up the watering early on like Teetee said. I might work on getting more heat into the loft so the vent air is warmer coming in...

Day 63

Despite my lack of updates she's still going, all very sedate on this grow, she's slowly filling out a little and has started eating her fans. Current plan is to run her till about day 80 or so, it's not going to be a bumper haul but nice frosty stuff. Kind of impressed that I've managed to grow a tiny TD in a 15L airpot, there's always one eh?

Sorry about the photos, my girlfriend is off using her camera for her work so I'm reduced to my phone.

So in other news I should have some lightmix arriving today, after which I'll be getting the ANQ set up in my second pot, I'll be trying to pay much closer attention to this one as the TD shows what happens when I get complacent and lazy. Plan to change to fishmix from biogrow and go back to watering a little carefully each day, rather than bunging a load on every few days. In hindsight that wasn't so clever. I've also tidied up the loft insulation and added a small radiator to keep temps in a closer range.

One of the frostiest TDs I've seen, she will be a lovely smoke bro.

Thanks! That's huge praise coming from you! Really looking forward to trying her in a month or so.

Oohh, nice and frosty. It's odd that she stayed that small, I can't see that you did anything to stunt her. Perhaps it's just luck of the draw, genetics wise.

Yeah she's been a really happy little plant the whole way, think I might have been a little clumsy early on with the watering but she's clearly doing ok, just a bit small. I don't get through loads so it'll be enough to keep me going, so I'm happy with how it's gone.
