hi all

I'm gearing up for the outdoor season, everything is falling into place pretty well so now my attention is turning toward the indoor action I got planned. Setup my tent which is 80x80x160cm, light is a cmh 315w, looking to upgrade to individual cobs in the future, probably going nft in a gt205 can just about fit two system inside my small space (I've measured it should be fine but a tad tight) or 4 6.5ltr airpots filled with coco, bottom feed via a aqua valve. My aim is to keep the numbers low and quality high along with high yields of course .

My plan is to try and do a perpetual style grow using either think different or think big but I cant decide which??? Odour is a issue although of course I'll be running with a CF, I've read TD isn't overly pungent? but how about TB? Being that it's a TD off shot I don't imagine it's generally similar?

Also while I have the attention of the TD lovers I'd love to try her or her bigger sister (TB) outdoors in the uk (latitude 53N). This isn't a given for me but it would be nice to have a sort of multi purpose strain for all seasons and scenarios but it's mould resistance I'm mostly thinking about?

All info and advice is welcome, the more the merrier.

I find both strains to be low odor, sure, you can smell them, but nothing like a cheese or some such.....

Oddly enough, but that what they also say in the DP TB blog, I find that TD generally grow taller and bigger than TB, but yield is generally higher with TB...... In your setup I would go with TB for starters......

Airpots bottom fed with an Aquavalve.... That's a new one, interesting ...... How exactly are you planning to do that...... @pop22 runs a similar sort of setup in a big tray, albeit not with airpots.....

I've no experience in the outdoors, but @912GreenSkell will set you right....

Good luck, I'm subbed.......

Hey there @Corgy many thanks for the information, it's very very helpful to me to make my decision about what to do next, although I am a little way off actually getting indoor growing once more. So with all that info in mind I feel the think big is looking like a better option, did you find many pheno types in the TB compared to the TD Corgy? I've read that many of the TDs are variable, not a bad thing imo but with just using the larger TD as a breeding tool for TB you'd imagine they have nailed down such phenos more?

With regard smell as stated I'll be running a carbon filter (rhino) as standard so that should hold up against odours but it's good to know the smells are containable unlike super smelly cheeses.

The aqua valve idea is one I had a while back, you can buy what's dubbed a holiday kit from autopots here's a link

http://www.onestopgrowshop.co.uk/gr...s/autopot-easy-2-go-holiday-watering-kit.html

Basically you buy a tray, place the valve in, plug it all together with a good sized res and you have a automated, bottom feed system, now this is very useful when going away for a week or so but if I ran with nft it wouldnt be a consideration as it would be fine for a while.

Will wait on greenskell with his auto outdoor thoughts, doing dinafem white widow xxl anyway but I do wonder if the TD or TB would work too, we shall see.

Thanks again Corgy

You can also get tent sized trays from auto pots. Considering airpots have a raised bottom, I'd put wick in them that would extend down into the tray.

I thought of that already @pop22 thanks for the advice :smoking:. Wicking it up that way will work fine but I had another idea which I've tried and works even better, simply flip over the airpot plastic base plate the other way and it hits the tray perfectly. The auto pot valve allows 20mm or 2cm of water to trickle out per time which covers the bottom very well.

With think big being BIG! and taking many weeks to finish could I (possibly don the shoot me) top it and train it? mainlining I mean? I know topping autos generally is a no no so we do lst or pinching here and there to create a more even canopy but as it's sooooo long in flower??? Just a idea

I've noted that the longer flowering strains tolerate topping, fimming, etc fairly well. These strains work well in SCROG also

i have been thinking about something like this ... running autopots atm ... your idea with the upturned airpot bottom seems inspired :bighug::slap:

i would run 2-3 inches of clay pebbles in bottom of airpot, so u dont have soil/coco in contact with water, and hand water until day 20ish :clapper:

You see this Is exactly why I've come to AFN, super knowledgable people with hearts of gold . Again that's good to know @pop22 I would likely use a scrog net of sorts just to control and prop up the sheer size of such a plant, I do lst but prefer to let nature take its course.

Gonna link in @DutchPassionTony here so we can get even more info on everything discussed, I've tagged him over at uk420 as well but looks like I'll get much better info here.

With regards to yields and looking for big numbers anyone recommend auto ultimate as another contender?

Glad to be of help @Slowmo ive not actually run it this way yet (flipped bottoms haha) but it should work perfectly well to allow wicking super easy. You could run some clay pebbles or seramis in the bottoms, perlite perhaps. Seen other guys just running pure coco direct in water with no ill effects, hand watering until roots come out the bottom prior to allowing this tho :)

people here have grown bigger, but still, this was a lady I was proud of, auto ultimate in 20 gallons of organic soil:
