I've been growing for years, and always had it stuck in my head to train plants until the stretch begins, and then let them go upward. For me it was usually scrogs and photos, and I'd train until I flipped to 12/12 and then let them stretch upward (sometimes I'd continue training for the first week, but never past that).

For various reasons that's not optimal this run, so I'm wondering where I got the idea that there are negative impacts to training through the stretch? Is that true? Since I've never done it before I'm not sure. Oh, and this is an auto I'm continuing to train, a sativa/haze dominant stretchy strain.

Thanks for the reality check -

I don't have any science behind it but I definitely train as they stretch until like week 3 usually or around there of flower in my scrogs with photos and until they are pom poming when they are just shooting pistils and preflowering I am usually still training some. Depends on the plant too I suppose. I'm sure someone with more wisdom will shed some clearer light on the situation and I'm interested to see what the answers would be. Personally I don't have or think there is a set time to stop training just depends on the plant but that's just me. As long as it is going to have time to take the flower sites and make colas I think it's probably OK and worthwhile but again that's just my personal preference and someone else might have actual information or insight. Which I will take something from as I am always interested in what's actually best not just what I have done OK with previous.

Super Cropping is HST - high stress training - and I have done that without issue to plants well past stretch.
Actually I've had to do that too a couple of times when I ran out of room, I guess I never really knew if the plant would have been better in some way had I not had to do it.

Currently I'm LST training the plant in question. I guess as long as it keeps outgrowing the others in the space, I'll keep working it.

I agree!
