My caliber III's wont be here till wednesday.

i may have jarred a lil early i started going by the 10% rule but my rh went literally from 24 to 69 then back down it wasnt consistent at all...right now its 44. (thats from a large meter i cant jar)

until i get my caliber meters how often and how long should i burp..? they felt dry when jarred but obviosuly after being sealed theyre feeling more moist..or sticky..just not dry.. yall know what i mean :D

any advice for me when i got no clue of the RH in there right now :cough:

There stuck in there because the trychomes are sticky and this is good.Don;t knock yourself out about drying and curing,I never use a humidity meter. If you jar them when they feel dry and then recheck them and there moist, this is normal.Just spread them out in the open for awhile until there dry again then rejar.Check them the next day and if needed do the same process until they finally stay dry in the jar.Don't dry them to where they are totaly crispy, this is to dry.You want them slightly moist to where the stem snaps clean when bent and the buds have a slight give to them.

thanks namvet the stems felt dry yesterday so i just cut them off mostly down to the buds and jarred so im kinda relying on just feeling the buds, ill make sure when i lay them out they dont get too dry, then jar, and repaeat if neccesary :smokebuds:

The rh fluctuations might be from burping the jar....they get lower, then when sealed again, the inner moisture migrates and rh increases again....it should eventually level out....if unsure, and you are awaiting arrival of an hygrometer, one could always put the jar in the freezer until it arrives.

yeh just keep burping itll be fine till the calibre arrives anyway. maybe get a big tupperware container that will fit your other hygrometerwith the buds? unless its huge

My bud sticks together as well!

I had to leave the country so i had no choice but to jar still wet weed.
My wife burped and aired out the jars 4 to 5 times a day, every day for a week.
When i returned home the weed was still wet so i made covers for the jars out of Tyvek envelopes.
This allows the jars to breath very slowly.
Once they are how i like them the lids get put back on and i remove the air and have vacuum packed buds that stay that way for a long time!
Long term storage is in the freezer.
I think i found a great way for me to cure using the envelopes!
Nice and slow for a great cure!

Almost a month later the buds are still moist and pliable! YUMMY!!
All i do is whatever is going to be consumed gets taken out of the jar about 10 minutes before grinding.
It dries perfectly and burns very nicely!
The smell and taste is still forming and gets better every week!

:peace:

Yup i totally agree with all on this one! :thread:

Got the meters in. Both jars are over 70% so im gunna dry more, do I gotta lay all the buds out or can I just open the lid n still get an equal dry :bong:

place the buds gently into a bag of shredder paper.....roll the top closed....in 24 hours the bud should be ready for the cure jar.....a little sooner if you set the closed bag on top of the cable box..hope this helps....

keep in mind you need to leave meters in a while sealed up to get an accurate reading. the amount of time needed to get an accurate reading goes up as the rh goes down i find. i leave them a few hours and come back once things have equalised.
probably safest to take them out but open jar with a shake every now and then would probably be fine too
