I'm sure you have all seen it many times before but who has ever tried a part harvest and what was the results ?

So for instance the main cola is done but there is plenty of smaller underdeveloped buds lower down. If the higher more developed buds were harvested would the lower buds continue to develop and put on size ? The pistils turn orange ?

Hey Nabzter, this is actually a very common practice with many growers. They will harvest the top buds (most exposed to the light) and then give the bottom buds (which can tend to be a bit more popcorn/airy) a few more weeks to pack on extra weight without the top canopy shading them.

Happy growing bud! And happy 420!

I did that this time, my results were not dramatic

It's not done for a large increase in yield ... it's more to allow the lower buds to get enough light time to properly mature ... once you remove the upper canopy don't forget to lower your light ...

Ya part harvest works but its not worth it to me. I like to strip the lower 1/4 part of my plants mid flower so the plant can focus on the upper parts of the plant and to avoid this so I can harvest the whole plant at once.

My experience, under CFL, is that progressive harvesting is of considerable benefit, and well worth doing.

While I do not have other lighting experience, IMO I doubt that you could get the same benefits to the same degree under more intense lighting such as LED.
