Indoor DIY Sub irrigation SIP system - need some help with this please - doesn't appear to work

Take a plastic lid, cut it to the radius of your feltbags, drill a bunch of holes in it and a circle in the center where you will put your wick and attach it with velcros...cut the hole at the bottom of your bag the size of wick diameter and place the lid on the bottom of the bag...or if the fabric is tear resistant just tie the wick to the bottom with velcros

@waynejohn

My geopots are already full of medium and plants so I can't get to the bottom on the inside. I can get at the bottom of the outside.

So you add the plastic out the outside or inside?

If on the inside, I'll wait until I start the next run and I empty the containers to do this. Sounds like a great idea.

If they go on the outside, I'm not following how to do this. The lid with holes sits between the geopot and the clay pellets and acts as a separator for air and roots to go thru? And a how do you attach the wick to the plastic lid with velcro? And then cut/drill a hole in the bottom of the geopot and push the wick in to it?

No it's inside, i don't have an effective way to do it on the outside

Easiest way is to just pierce and loop in some wick to the corners of the geopot.

Use your probe and monitor, try and observe and understand the full workings of the method you are using and enjoy the grow experience.

I love that you are employing a KISS system and then moving forward with what you are comfortable with. Defiantly a way to success!

Got it f6. that sounds totally doable and good. I think I'll take the knitting needles and puncture some holes and thread in some thick wick in a couple of spots per pot and dangle them down to the bottom of the res and monitor from there. Thanks for the suggestions and helping me. If this works great, I might not even do it any different next time. I'm def dying to see some roots poke thru the geopots with this run and hoping I get there with this setup.
