Indoor DogterB's DIY Octopot Wannabe - Run #1

Looking good!

Another update pic. The left side is growing strong, @pop22 soil mix is killing it so far. On the right side, the FFOF is just not keeping up. The Ogreberry in the back right corner that I replaced the grizzly crinkle with is doing great, sitting in mostly the soil mix but had to top off with FFOF. Water is on for both sides now. I posed a question in the New Growers forum, but I want to post it here too just in case anyone comes by with any insight:

I have an auto-watering SIP style DIY Octopot type setup, 6 pots in a 4x4. I'm thinking of adding some aeration but don't know where would be best for the stone. I know that Octopot doesn't recommend a stone in the res under the pot, but what about farther up the line? Would there be any cons to adding aeration? Here is a diagram of my setup:

#1 is a water bucket outside of the tent (black lined), it feeds to #2
#2 a small bucket in the tent with a float valve, it feeds and maintains a constant water level in #3
#3 are the 6 individual reservoirs under fabric pots

So, where would putting an air stone be advantagous? Would you put one in? I'm just thinking here, curious as to others thoughts. Thanks!

It’s been a bit but here’s an update. Starting to see the ones in FFOF struggle. I’ve been super busy with clinicals and haven’t spent much time in the tent. The left side stretched a lot all of a sudden, my light is now the highest I can put it with the hangers that it has. I’ll have to figure out a new hanger so I can get some more space. The Afghan skunk was touching the lights, so I pinched and bent down the tallest. Ogreberry is still going strong, I do a little leaf tucking but otherwise have left her natural.

Awhile ago I noticed that one of the main branches on my twisted puppy had broken. It looked like it had been broken at least a day, but I rigged it up tight and tied it down hoping to salvage it. She healed up nicely!

Holy crap, just realized been almost a month since I last updated this. I’ve been dealing with nutrient issues. I’ve been using tap water in the res and it’s been causing issues. Looked into the water quality report and it’s loaded with calcium and comes from tap ~9 pH :yoinks:. This has been causing plenty of issues, mostly with the big girls. I have since started using water from my Berkey filter and pH’ing it down to around 6.5. This seems to have helped. Today I’ll make up a tea because the big ones seem like they are hungry.

The last pic is my Atlas Seeds froot by the foot that was stalled out for the longest time, then one day decided to get its life together and took right off. She’s currently trying to grow into my light

The ladies are still kicking, but my afghan skunk and twisted puppy are really struggling. Everyone else seems to have gotten over what was going on. I switched from tap water to water from my Berkey filter that I pH down. The double grape is pretty much done and am planning to chop her this weekend. The afghan skunk and purple kong are getting close, will have to check trichomes this weekend. Ogreberry is starting to chunk up, as well as the froot by the foot. The froot by the foot seemed stunted for the longest time, but suddenly blew up one day. My poor twisted puppy seems to have stalled out, has a bunch of white pistils and small buds and has been seemingly stagnant for a few weeks.

I made up a tea with EWC, molasses, Flower Girl, and some fresh potting soil. Everyone got some.

Chopped down the Double Grape. Have her drying in a cardboard box in my 2x2. She may not be the prettiest but she sure does smell good!

Afghan skunk (Linda Seeds) got the chop last night. Beautiful stanky buds even though she’s had a rough life, half her leaves were dried and falling off.View attachment 1495134View attachment 1495135View attachment 1495136View attachment 1495137View attachment 1495138View attachment 1495139
My 2 of my Afghan skunk got purple, but not this purple! Damn stunner, another pheno I gotta keep my eyes open for.

Grew 2 last year and got 2 more in the soil now around day 30. Nice pull on the weight of her, how's the smell/taste? Loved this strain, certainly some of the best weed I've personally grown. What made you run her if you don't mind me asking?

Anyways nice grow, if you grow out more Linda seeds gear please tag me :pass:

Thanks, I think she turned out beautiful. This is my first run with their afghan skunk. Everything I've grown from Linda Seeds have grown into monsters. Gorilla glue, northern lights, afghan skunk, all have grown as tall as I am. All fresh flower smells the same to me, sweet and perfumey. It's usually not until after some curing that I can smell the strain. Nothing in particular made me choose to run her, Linda Seeds usually has a really good Thanksgiving/Black Friday sale and I got an assortment of their autos. Think I might try their auto AK next run, we'll see. If I put in any Linda Seeds, I'll give ya a tag. Thanks!

And then there were 3. Took down the RBI Purple Kong. Can’t wait for her to dry and cure, she smells amazing as usual with RBI. Also dry trimmed the Double Grape and got it jarred up. Will give it a while for humidity to even out, then I’ll weight what I got.
