Lighting DIY heat sink for LED strips

I wouldn't put tape unless it's needed hold on led aluminum to aluminum should be fine now spacing it wouldn't hurt but I don't think it would make a big difference now if you searade the edges it would help but that's about it I would think and even that won't be crazy difference maybe others have more experience but that's mine so far.

I used the tape and screws on mine. I don't think it's usually needed unless you drive them over 75%.

I chose to only heat taped my strips.Had to resolder a wire connector on one of the strips.What kind of solid 18 gauge wire did you guys use?
Was planning on using LVT (brown thermostat wire). Anyone else did or did you use thicker insulation then LVT wire?

I think I used 300v rated. Pretty standard for 18ga solid core wire.

I bought Remington 18g it was 20$ for 6 different colors of 25ft I will take some pics
 
Here's my finish light.
I adjust the current potentiometer to read at 4 amps on my clampmeter with 118 vac at the wall.
How exactly do you calculate wattage? Simple as 472 watts?
