Devil Dog's first grow Progress

@Stone420 so do you just pick the leaf off from the stem, or do you pick the stem from the main branch?

I'll usually dip my trimming scissors into alcohol to make sure they don't have anything on them that may cause issues with the plant. I like to nip the leaf and most of it's stem close to the branch so there is not much of a stub remaining. I don't want to cut into the branch, so take care to stay just a bit away from the stem.

Master and pupil well -- done guys , :clapper::clapper::clapper::thumbsup: sharing knowledge and learning is a gift . and both of you have it . This is what makes AFN great . :smoking:

Your post is very kind and rewarding which makes sharing and caring all the more apparent in AFN. Thank you for the kind words, @hecno !

I remember the countless questions I had and the support that growing forums offer. I hoped one day I'd be able to pay it forward and give back more than I take. By no means am I am pot growing "guru", so I take my limited skills very humbly. @DevilDog_0651 is doing a heck of a good job, and one day soon will be giving new growers tips on LST himself. A rising tide lifts all boats.

Ok thank you! So i need to maybe need to focus on a select few leaves near the top to open up the middle

There are a couple of leaves that stand out that would take out to open the plant up some. Start by selectively removing a couple of those large fan leaves and see how much that opens the center. If you need to take another leaf or two, that's cool, but she can get stressed if too many are taken at once. Once she gets a bit larger, you can be a bit more aggressive with foliar removal.

In fact, my plant is due for some under canopy trimming which I call lollypop trimming. The real reason I do that is to maintain air flow under her canopy since I have trained her almost to lay flat. Need to keep air flow underneath so she doesn't develop moisture related issues immediately above the soil.

I will take a look when i get home! Hey, what do you think about giving my indoor plants a few hours of natural sunlight per day? They are "indoor" in a shed in my back yard, so i walk 3 feet from my shed and am at my garden.

I've never gone back and forth between a tent and natural light, but it sounds like a keen idea. Natural sunlight hits the plant at various angles as the sun moves in the sky - unlike a fixed light that stays at one angle all the time. I'm all for it, just watch and make sure she doesn't get sunburned or overheated due to a location that blocks airflow. Be watchful of pests and don't bring mites (etc) back into your grow room.

I like outdoor grows and have several going strong and they def get big compared to indoors. I have a few sativa plants that will probably get head tall during the summer.

Hope to hear good results.

Airflow would be good as there really is no ventilation in my shed (i know this is bad, but have not found a way to vent and keep light from leaking during night). That's the main reason i want to put them outside a few hours a day, so they can breathe.

@archie gemmill would you mind to move this thread to the new grower journal section? While I keep asking questions daily, I feel this is not the right section for this? If it's okay where it's at just let me know.

@Stone420 i moved both of my plants outside this morning as it's supposed to be nice and warm today. This will be the first full day they will be outside, hopefully they take it well. I have had them outside before, but usually only in the afternoon sun. My plan is to continue moving them in and out so they get natural light during the day, and my LED during the evenings / night. I have ran 24/0 the past few days in hopes of giving them a better chance at acclimating to the sun. Hopefully this works out.
