New Grower Day in the Life of a Stunted Auto

Not sure if I’m reading the entries correctly or not. Are you ‘gathering’ that amount of rain water on those days or are you watering that amount on those days? If watering that amount it looks like the plant is way over watered which can stunt the growth and/or cause root rot.

Sorry, I was catching up on this journal and I didnt have my written notes ai I was guestimating, poorly. I went back through and updated my journal. I typically water every other day and alternate nutrient days with plain water days. Most of the time it works out. I'd rather under water verses over water.

rep for the journal...well done & most appreciated! \m/ ppp
If youre temps are fluctuating dont use a dark period when the plant is a small seedling... leave the light on 24 hrs to keep the temps up... then when its a bit more mature you can give it some dark if you want... but that cold temp at seedling stage really did a number on it.

Ya I think I might get a reptile heat rock next time. Would work well for germination.

Day # 64

Buds are forming and she looking nice and healthy and super thirsty. I've been giving her about 64oz of water almost daily. I thought the leaves were starting to look a little dark so I figured it's time to switch to Bloom nutes at 1/4 dose every other watering. Also did a bit of defol to try and get some more light to the lower bud sites.

I was hoping for some more stretch but hopefully she has a little to give so I have real estate for some bud sites. All in all I'm happy so far. She ki d of cruise control right now and I'll update again in a couple days.

Day # 70

She chugging along. I was hoping for a bit more stretch but it is what it is and it cant be what its not. So I decided I might as well lower the lights a bit then. The light is now a out 20" from the top of the plant. I kept my eye on her the past couple days and saw no change in her attitude so I'll take that as a win. At 20" I get a PAR rating of about 1000. For thos of you who bought a LUX meter, like I did as well, instead of a PAR meter because it was cheaper, I get about 417,000.

During my last watering I switched her to only bloom nutes at 3/8 recommmeded dosage. I also decided to start using a different nute that I kind of bought on a whim last grow because I thought I was nute deficient and looking for a miracle. Kind of like going food shopping when your hungry. So I went with 3/8 teaspoon of Maxibloom (5-15-14) and 3/8 teaspoon of Humbolt County's Own, Crystal Burst (0-15-15). I'm using both so I can still have a little N to push through the middle of the bloom phase. I'll probably switch 100% over to the Crystal Burst towards the end and let the fan leaves feed the rest of the N needs. I'm not seeing any signs of tip burn so far so I might as well turn up the heat. I will up the dosage to 1/2 dose every other watering from now on.

I've also been doing some light defol every couple days to open up the bud sites. A few leaves here and there dont seam to really phase her much. It just forces the growth to the ends of the branches. She's probably afaird she getting eaten by something

Oh and to keep in line with the VPD chart, I lowered my humidity. Took the room and equipment a day or two to equalize. It's a little warmer than I would have liked but still in range.

Every other day/ 3 day when pot feels light
Rain water
64 oz of plain water every other day
pH test before watering adjust up/ down to get a pH of 6.4-6.6

Maxi causes a big pH drop
Crystal Burst causes a mild pH drop

I didn't know any better and I topped her at 35 days in:oops1: . So for those of you at home taking notes, dont top after 20 days.

And for comparison sake, here are a couple picture of my first grow at this same point. Same batch of beans. I hope my next griw will be better.

I don't think I'll top an auto for awhile but look at what you did, you have results from trying things out. Just think your next grow is gonna be much better. I'm a 1st time (led) grower so i'm only going off my trail and errors of this 1 go (i tried a cfl grow years and failed)

Your plant looks great you did not kill it and it looks like you will get some smoke :smoking:
i would suggest a space heater and set it to something like 77F.

About lux meters and those purple lights don't they get reading that are not accurate because of the colors used in it? but you have a PAR meter so that nulls out the lux meter issues.

This is only my second grow but I started topping from the start because i wanted to keep my plant short in the tent. I read some info on other forums that wasnt entirely accurate and I learned through AFN what I can do next time to improve my grow. I hate to waste things and I wanted a chance to work on my LST so I let it go to see where it ends up.

I'm aiming to be around the numbers on the chart below for VPD. I just switched to flowering so the tent sits at 48%rh and 72°F during lights on. Going off the calculator posted by wildbill, I'm not that far off the target number.

Ya, from what I gathered your are correct. The PAR meter reads the 200-300 beyond the either side of the limits of the LUX (furthest red and furthest blue). I bought the LUX meter because I didnt want to drop the money on the PAR. I ended up buying both. I was worried I burned my last plant so I wanted to be sure not to screw that up this time. Little that I know, it was a pH issue that plagued my last grow.
