Thanks man. Kinda hard to see but I even sorted it into "everyday medicine" buds and "having company over" buds, lol.
But yeah. So if you're doing the paper bag drying method, once you chop the plant you'll pull off all the leaves that don't have any frost on em, then you'll do a closer trim and save all that for edibles or hash. Then the buds go in the bottom of paper grocery bags (try to find the thickest you can) in a single layer. Fold up the top of the bag a few times (I held mine closed with clothespins) and stick em somewhere to do their thing. The general rule of thumb that I've seen (and that worked for me) is for every 10 degrees of RH you have in the area you're drying in, add a day to your dry time. You should ideally be aiming for a slower dry than a faster one. My ambient RH was 45-55%, and my buds took right about five days to be ready for curing. Also, the size of the buds will affect this too - try to keep them no larger than a golf ball.
Once they're dry, you move 'em to wide-mouth quart jars. Fill each about 3/4 full, and stick in a RH meter if you have one to spare. Leave it be for 12-24 hours, to let the moisture level stabilize a bit. Then, "burp" the jars by taking the lid off for 30-60 mins at least once a day for the first week. You're aiming for 62-65% RH, and buds that feel "crispy" but not dried out. If the buds feel squishy or you smell anything like ammonia, pull everything out and let them air dry outside of the jars for a little bit - they're too wet to sit in them.
And so on, and so forth. It's not an exact science, but with a RH meter and a little bit of observation, you'll get a hang for what you're looking for pretty quick. At a month out, I'm burping my jars about once a week just for a couple minutes and they're good to go. Hope this helps and wasn't too rambling!
