Doing very well there, nice bush..I've defoliated here and there as she got older and had plenty of leaves to spare..In the beginning it was mostly tying and leaf tucking..As far as defoliation, only like 2-3 leaves that really had no choice but to go every training session..She was super-cropped in a few areas which formed nice knots on the stems and are super strong now…I have the cobs as far down now as I've tested at 18" and the soil underneath the canopy is illuminated. I just want to open her up a little not only for light but for air circulation..This strains buds get really dense if you let them go an extra week or so and the humidity in my area has been really screwing with my environment controls.

Personally. Besides genetics. I really feel like root space is a huge factor. Bigger pot bigger roots bigger plants. 100% more work more water more soil more nutes.
So . Pros n cons lol.

see ive been thinking about this recently. does this rule apply to hydro aswell? gonna have to dwc my mephisto grow as my nfts are busy. if i made like a 50L dwc and threw like 40w of bubble power in it would it actually get any bigger than say a 20L dwc with a 12w pump? in soil, bigger means bigger but only like 20% of my roots even made it into the nft res last time so im fairly sure having a bigger nft wouldnt make any difference.
any thoughts folks?

Testing this as soon as I get me A nch to pop. 3.5 gal grow bucket into a 10 gal drum with 3 stones of air

Also. I like a couple inch layer of perlite on the bottom just to promote better drainage.

River Rock is free and works great for the bottom of pots. No fancy volcanic stone needed for that aspect, but non the less both do the same job.

There's actually a lot of myth to the old gravel at the bottom of a pot to improve drainage bit. The change in medium will actually create a barrier that can keep water IN the soil until it becomes saturated before any will drain. There's lots-o-stuff round the 'Net about it. Still...another one of those that folks have been doing for eons and getting good plants doing, so your call.
