Not positive but I think 70 is what the root zone likes so even if your canopy is 80 and the floor is 40 your roots won't be happy

Hps. Digi adjustable. So I can go 250w up to 600w. I added two lights and put all four down to 250w. Added an extra extractor. Still too hot. Wonder if I can find some cool tubes on eBay... aaarrgh... so heat is gonna be more damaging? Than lack of light? I can switch lights off in relay maybe?

A light meter is a great addition as well . Maximum lux is 8000 or 80000 lumens m2 more than that is a waste of power .

Dude, we are in the same boat
I`m swapping over to LED lights to handle the temp problem as soon as I can afford it.
Other tips that was given to me was to use a cooltube or a airhood reflector - both are viable options!
I got two small 24W fans and one air intake, one at the canopy, one at the lamp and one intake at the bottom of the closet with a output + filter on the top, but still struggling. Let me know how you fix yours!

And for the "less light", you should never flower on less than 250W, regardless of growspace.
Depending on your setup and financial situation, I would recommend to invest in a Airhood reflector with a 600W bulb or a LED plate (You can still use the 250W for Veg or seedlings).

Thanks man. I'm thinking as a summer emergency measure to get em through to finish. Four lights. Put em onto 18 hours. With 6 hours off. But one after the other. So only three lights lit at any time. If I can push lights up to 400 or 600 after I've staggered switch off times I'll do it. I can go grab four timers today. Also have another fan to add. So get some more air movement too. Sounds like a plan. A half assed plan but a plan! I'll check out cool tubes on eBay. Although probably wrong time of year to find any bargains!

I'm sure , but they can't use them . P.S. can I just use ordinary cooking onions .

It was a space thing really. I wanted to get more light further down without pruning them to the bone. Not gonna pop so many next time. I was covering all bases assuming I'd lose a few.

No. They're upstairs so not ideal to start with from a heat/ventilation point of view. I've got windows open but weather is really warm and close even at night.
