Hey Live Stoners! Can I get your guys opinion on something?

When you think "Autoflower," is that all you think?

What about "Super Auto?" Who here all knows what that is or means? Do you guys think (rhetorical question) that should even be coined as a thing?

What about "Semi-Auto"? I see this with several breeders as well. Should you EVER have to flip an autoflower to 12/12? Was just curious how you guys felt about some of the marketing and breeding things that are going on with autoflowering cannabis.

@pop22 I wanna hear your thoughts on this too!
I am currently growing a semi-auto. A semi-auto will start to flower on its own, just like a normal autoflower does. You do not HAVE to flip to 12/12, but it is RECOMMENDED for better yields. As long as the plant starts flowering out of its own, it is an autoflowering variety as far as I'm concerned. At night all kinds of processes still take place in cannabis. I'm a firm believer that this alsoI still goes for autoflowering cannabis. It is better to give them proper dark hours. It's basic plant science. At night the energy that's gathered during daytime is used to process the building blocks to build the plant. Doing both at daytime is inefficient for any plant.
So...unless you are of the opinion that autoflowering cannabis should be defined as a variety that always needs 24 hours of light, I don't see why it should be a problem. As far as I'm concerned, calling some strains semi-auto just shows the seed company is being honest. Telling you better yield is possible if you give them the chance to build what they need during nighttime.

As for super-autos, I can't see I have experience with those. But from what I understand these are autoflowers with a longer vegetative period that will still start to flower out of their own (which makes them an autoflowering variety imo) They basically can get as big as a photoperiod. I would love to try that! Can't, unfortunately, my cabinet would be too small.
