Insulate your res! The water line to the pot(s) also. I use to put a frozen, 2 liter bottle in the res. With insulation, I could go about 24 hours between bottles by keeping the solution between 67F ( 19.4C ) and 72F ( 22.2C ). I used Reflectix, looks like bubblewrap encased in aluminum foil

ah, so insulation is thermos then? it keeps temperature steady, not keeps cold out as i believed untill now? ill go look it up just now cheers man. id thought about wrapping the lot in silver ducting tape. i put that on the nft and dwc lids with that idea in mind. thanks buddy. i may owe you more than one : )

The COB's should be doing a more efficient job of converting electricity to light, so should produce less heat per watt at the LED. Is the overall wattage of the light rig higher than that of the LED's? For example, if the COB's are 70 watts each, for a total of 140 and the old LED was only 100 watts total, that could account for it. The efficiency of the driver itself is another thing to lo .ok at. Most of the heat on my rig feels like it's actually at the driver.

The cobs are 200 w x 2 . The led was 400 - 420 x 1 .
