I have eaten a lot of game in my life but I never liked bear, duck, or boar in the fall when they are eating the acorns. Deer, elk, moose pheasant, sage grouse, quail and chuckers are all top of the list. Rattle snake can be good deep fried in beer batter. My uncle would make a point out finding a snake on the annual out of state hunting trips. I think he did it because most of my cousins would not eat it and it would start the drinking challenges - eat a piece of snake or down a shot:haha:. I miss those trips - all the old guys are dead and long gone along with that way of life in our family.

We ate snake twice, never my favorite. But quail with wild rice, a touch of white wine... unreal!

I have some 8mm home movies that my dad shot of hunting and fishing trips digitized but I would need to edit out the identifying information before I could share them. They probably would not be very interesting to non participants but they show a time slice of history gone now.

Anyhow got a dentist appointment early in the morning so I need to hit the hay.

Good night AFN!

Man that strikes a cord;
My dad would flour and brown quail in a skillet then put them in an electric roaster on a bed of wild rice with a dry sauternes wine and finish cooking them in the roaster. That was good eats.
