That is the "nitrogen cycle" for a living body of fresh water. I do believe.

It is the N cycle, but it's shown in term of pools of Nitrogen where plants can touch it, so from tip to root, including the atmosphere. The biggest one at top is the atmosphere, the one that says plant form, means taken into the plant biomass, and the others are mineral forms in soil.

I think Hitchhikers series are the first and maybe only books that me laugh out loud. I'm tempted to add Neil Gaiman to that list after American Gods.
