The idea is to veg them till they get to half of your maximum desired size, then drop the light to 12 hours, and the flowers have room to stretch.

this my photo grow 4 weeks veg from seed at 18/6 and 12/12 in flowering.
Strawberry Banana 36 days in flowering now (12/12 light)
